my dad just gave me his 2-yr-old n80, since he doesn't have a/another sim card to go with it (he has, like, 3 different phone nums).

my 1st thought, what a manly phone... i mean, it's quite bulky compared to my old nokia 6131. but after minutes of extensive searching on the net, i totally fell in love with it! it's my 1st time having a 3g-enabled phone btw, so maybe that's why, lol.

but my dad said he once dropped the phone before, n the wallpaper he used was removed (not deleted, just that the image he used was not featured as the wallpaper anymore). but to me the phone still works just fine, except that it's quite lagging, esp if i use a large-size theme (i'm a sucka for pretty / artistic theme hehe). err is that considered a -ve effect from the dropping? could a damaged ribbon cause it?

anyway i'm not bothered by it (yet), so for now i give it 9/10 (near perfect since i haven't updated the firmware).

about the gps... isn't there one that's free? i just want to show to may dad how useful a hp can be (he's currently using n95, but he doesn't want to activate the 3g, or the internet, i dunno why)

Added on August 28, 2008, 8:03 pmerr quite a stupid question here... after updating the firmware as per the utube vid, how to restore my hp setting? coz after updating, i got new stuffs in the menu screen: Web n Search. but when i restore my setting (everything i backed up earlier), the stuffs are gone. or am i not supposed to do that? then, how to?

GPS is free to use. But you must have the hardware and software to use it and usually there you need to invest sum of money. You can checkout the first post for more info

Why do you need to restore all your previous setting after flashing the new firmware?
*
err don't you have to? dunno if 'restore' is the right word to use... but after flashing the new firmware, all my msgs, appns are missing fr the new setting right... or is there another way to put them back inside the phone?

erk, nvm. just realized what 'restore' really means. but still, how to retrieve all old msgs?

p/s: waahh.. all smilies got songkok on their head... raya is still a month away la, lol.
