Yeah only Canon L lens has this 'luxury' item. Total sucks. All other manufacturer of 3rd party lenses comes standard with lens hood, some with a carrying case. Some more if you want one, you need to scout for shops that actually sell them. Not all stock them as on-the-shelf products. You need to order.

..........Also, there is always the occasion which happened to me when a lady walked up to me asking me about my 70-200. She asked if her kit lens can take pics like my lens........ I was speechless at first.............

The Tamron 17-50 F2.8 is indeed a good lens, hands down. Some even go to the extend of comparing with Canon EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS USM! But any difference between them will be very fine and debatable. But Canon is better here because of the IS and sharp wide open. The Tamron can be slightly soft at the edges but goes very sharp when stopped down a little to F4.

I AM waiting for it... Now enough dough to buy 40D, but not enough to couple it with a good lens. So decided to buy a kit lens replacement first... So by the time 50D come out... hehe.. probably i'll be getting it...

This statement is incorrect.

First case -> If anyone shooting some picture with 85L +5D wide open for some potrait like kids in a garden, experinced shooter can know it is from FF becasue crop factor cannot reproduce the same amount of background blur. And if fact, from seeing the way how the background blur, already know which brand & lense.

Second case -> If you should with 5D with Sigma 12-24 lense at 12mm, experinced photographer also know they are from FF + Sigma 12-24 because it is so wide. And it cannot be reproduce with other crop factor camera or other lenses

Third case -> Experince photographers also can tell potrait pictures taken with 300 f2.8 wide open on FF. Again, similar beautiful bokeh and perspective cannot be reproduce by other crop factor camera and lenses.

I just mention 3 cases... there should be much more... 

dunno should i go for a 2nd hand 30D...@ go for another lens and stick with my 350D....><!!!!! ~~~~hardly to choose haha~~
