i doubt that the temperature would be the same if you compare BT VX and Xigmatek both inside the casing(with sidepanel closed tongue.gif).

another thing need to highlight here,

the thermalpaste apply method is very important for HDT cooler.
make sure all the heatpipes have contact with the thermalpaste. smile.gif

add one more:
your xigmatek haven lapped yet. whistling.gif

I don't have a casing, so don't know how it will performs. I normally spread the thermal paste all over the IHS of proc evenly for maximum contact with HSF base, shouldn't be a problem. Wonder how much cooler it will be after lapped. Anyone have already lapped theirs?
*
I lapped mine.
it's few degrees cooler.
the temperature difference is 8C according to here
http://forum.coolaler.com/showthread.php?t=166598

Wow, we bought the same cooler and mine just arrived yesterday (Tuesday) morning biggrin.gif. If I'm not mistaken yours is the last unit?

Anyway, do you have the problem like me? Gotta bend at least 2 fins (I made it 3) at lower side as not to collide with the motherboard chipset heatsink? sweat.gif

How's your temperature reading? Mine around 40~45C now on stock speed with casing closed. I applied a thin layer of Tuniq-TX2 on top of the proc IHS.

Beware when you're going to lap your HDT-S1283, some said overlapping will cause the pipes to drop out sweat.gif.
*
your temperature is quite high.
is that idle temperature?
mine idle at 39C fulload at 69C with 1.515Vcore and 3.6ghz, case closed with ambient temp 29C.

no, that's bullsht
unless you lap it with grit 500 sandpaper for 1 hour. tongue.gif

Probably the thermalpaste haven't burn in? unsure.gif

Anyway, just wokeup not long ago and happy to see the temperature around 35~40C now. Letting the rig run overnight as I'm downloading something. Not in air-con room, but just at the side of the living room under a ceiling fan tongue.gif.
*
the TX2 will sink in for another 1-2 temp drop after 7 days.

how you apply the thermalpaste on proc IHS?

my place doesn't have aircon too, only got one stand fan blowing to my seat.

Erm... I apply one drop in the middle and then try to spread it evenly on the IHS. Not fully covering the IHS, but leaving a little from the side of the IHS. Then before I hump the cooler on it, I drop another tiny drop in the middle and then just snap the cooler on smile.gif.

How about you?

Actually I think better just as in a drop or in a line so there wouldn't be air-bubble trapped within and evenly spread. Maybe I'll re-apply it anytime soon smile.gif. Just a bit hard as my casing doesn't have motherboard tray doh.gif.
*
i think that's different with HDT cooler.
i tried that before, one of the heatpipe at the side was not contacted with the TIM and the temp was bad. doh.gif
it will be better to have all the heatpipes get contact with the thermalpaste.

By the way, moderno jual berapa the Abit IX38 Quad GT?
I haven't bought the Abit IX38 Quad GT, still thinking. It's the cheapest X38 chipset based motherboard though.

nope.
really silent.
xcept for the fan I bought from AllnGap. 2x120mm Delta Fan. a bit noisy but powerful fans.
*
the stock CM fans are silent, but they are useless fans.
i got the delta too...it's noisy imo.

my recommendation for good silent fan: yateloon or panaflos
