yup it can. But the performance of CF HD3870 with HD3850 compare to CF HD3850 with HD3850 is almost the same only. Coz when CF with a lower clock card, the HD3870 also will decrease it clock core to match with HD3850.. just my 2 cents

To be very honest with you, the keys are kinda hard to even see during the dark - not to mention the day. Well, its noticeable but not that bright.

Well, if you are looking directly from the top of the keyboard, the lights are very bright (enough to see all the keys well) but if you are looking at 45 degree from the top of the keyboard, the lights become dim and might be hard to see the keys well. That being said, who would see a keyboard directly from the top
