well....heres a good reason why.... from pczone pricelist i downloaded from hardwarezone.com.my

1TB WD10000KS 3GBps SATAII 16MB - RM990/pc
* space u get.. 1TB..performance... like normal SATA II HDD la...


500GB WD5000KS 3GBps SATAII - RM375/pc (buy 2 pieces)
* space u get 1TB...setup RAID0 and performance almost equals a Raptor. total spent RM750 total saved RM240.

if u buy the new Seagate 7200.11 500GB it costs RM445 (x2=890) and still save RM100. the 7200.11 alone already supposed to be very fast. imagine if 2 of those in RAID0 drool.gif

sadly my 320gb are 7200.10. the 7200.11 doesnt come with 320gb.

i dun need any bigger and i dun wanna spend the money for any bigger...the 2 HDDs i bought are to replace dying HDDs in seperate rigs. just wanna try RAID0 while i still have 2 new HDDs. biggrin.gif

Honestly I been thinking of getting another Seagate 500GB 7200.11 32MB Cache NCQ for RAID-0, but well... I doesn't need that huge amount of space yet. Currently I'm suffering crash problem with my system. I wonder it is my OS corrupted or the HDD is faulty itself. Praying hard it isn't the HDD, else I'll need to sacrifice some time and money to make a trip to LYP for exchange or RMA purpose sad.gif *touch wood*.

BTW, your current 320GB running on SATA IDE or AHCI mode? biggrin.gif

You still got floppy disk drive with you to install the SATA driver? My FDD kaputed long ago and I didn't bother to replace till now I'm looking for one to install driver only sweat.gif. Else I'm gonna try Slipsteam the SATA driver into the WinXP BootDisc.

BTW, that cheaper WD 500GB GreenPower is actually a low performance HDD. Not much deal if used for storage, but system will be otherwise smile.gif.

most likely IDE mode... BIOS on stock settings.

yeah i have a floppy drive and disk ....so can make the raid driver disk

the greenpower thingy...dun care ler...my main point is that 2 smaller HDDs (even if its the 7200.11) is still cheaper than 1 bigger HDD for the same size... and can get better performance tongue.gif
