I am deciding weather to buy xbox 360.

One of the big factor that would prompt me to buy one
is the Online Gaming experience... in Malaysia

Hope you folks can assist me to make my decision....

What is the latency on Live for 1st person shooter games like COD 4?
Is it playable? Is there a 1-2 sec delay in firing a shot?

How about other games like beat-em-up, racing, etc... where latency counts as well.
Is it playable?

How easy is it to find players within SEA?

Hope you "gurus" can help. Thx.

Playable.

The post you entered in was too short. You must have at least 10 character(s) in your post before it will get posted.

Depends who's the host . Most of the games are P2P based , therefore , there will be a host . If the host is local or near , SG , HK , and JP , it's pretty playable .

Playing with local is a guaranteed no problem , unless your own line frak up , like how my line frak up today and I go berserk with my family .

Since I am still [new], how do you go on-line after the 1 month free period of XBL ? Do you use credit card top-up, I never heard (as far as my ears go) of people "topping-up to play XBL"...

Thanks for the feedback so far...

So when you guys say "playable" I assume
you mean generally no lag in terms for "instant feedback"?

Like no 1-2 sec delay or anything for "firing a shot"...

Is it often we get a MAS or SG host for xbox live?
Meaning lots of SG & MAS players around so far?

I'm only on 512k and still can play. Sometimes i play with players outside MY. Of coz sometimes lag but most of the time i can play it without trouble. Just now playing COD4 with MY players and other players. Great game except i cannot hold last...they're playing hardcore TDM, not my level la as a noob. Hehehehe....

i played on 360 for a year oledy until get banned for modding ( figures) . Anyways doesnt quite matter anyway coz now it suffers from RROD. but from my exp everything was fine plying live here and im using wireless broadband. It all depends on player skill in the end really. yes of coz there lots of mlysian , sgaporeans, hongkonians , and japanians (especially japs). Just make sure u dont mod ur box.. hehe wink.gif

Am i able to test out xBox Live performance in Gamers Hideout?

I guess it's best I experience it my-self
as i do realize my defination of "playable" may be different from others.

No one has yet confirm with me if
there's a 1 sec delay in firing a shot if I play a 1st person shooter. hmm.gif

How's PS3 community and thier online performance...
similar to xBox Live?

If the connection is bad, then you may experience the delay. 1 sec is really long in online terms, will make the game unplayable. But if all ok, then when fire, its instantaneous.

Most of the better games have very good netcode and compensation for slight lag. Is it perfect? No.

However I've been able to have Halo 3, Team Fortress 2 and COD4 matches with minimal headache on our sucky streamyx lines. As for lag, you can ask some of my RPG victims smile.gif

I tried out xBox Live at indeed it's instantaneous...

It's likely I will be joining you folks at XBL soon!
Now... if only i can find a place where xBox elite is in stock..

It's never instantenous, but anyway if your line is ok, and you're playing with people who are close by, your lag should always be below 500ms

quite playable.
