Dear all,

My younger brother's black Macbook was stolen yesterday with the serial number W87210NWYA4.

It's a 2.16GHz, Intel Core Duo Macbook with 1GB RAM and 120GB Hard Disk.

Only the laptop was stolen, so if anyone tries to sell you a black MACBOOK ONLY,
Please check the serial number and inform me immediately.
You can also contact me at 016-8103777
or e-mail me at pr0z4c89 @ gmail.com

Please notify me if you have any word on it.
The poor kid's pretty heartbroken.

TS is just trying to stay optimistic and maybe some kind souls here can look out for it.

1. That's why you put a notice here, warn you not to buy
2. Yea, and they might sell it to actually GET the money
3. Not everyone is like you

They didn't steal the charger, and that would cost about RM500 for them to purchase.

The macbook is totally password protected, so they can't log in.
They don't have the restore CD's so they can't reformat it.
Even if they do, it's already registered under someone else's name.

We requested CCTV footage and we saw that it was 2 men who took it,
Both seemed like construction people.

So unless they're going to sell it to someone who's dodgy enough to buy a Macbook stolen from a little boy,
Who is willing to go out and buy a new charger and find the restore software, I doubt they can do much to it.
It's too much hassle to steal a mac, honestly.

Unless of course they strip it for parts.
Which they won't get much for anyway.

But I'm hoping to get it back.
It's worth a shot.

have u lodge police report?

i'm not sure about msia but things are done very efficiently in australia. last time there was a digital video camera worth ard $2000 stolen from my college, they lodge a police report with serial no. and stuff. few days or weeks later, they got a call from a pawn shop receiving the camera and my college recovered it intact.

if u want to be optimistic, at least lodge a police report on top of posting thread here

Don't flame if you don't care and don't want to help. No one asked for your negative comments.

yeah. it was lodged before i posted here.
although i wouldn't rely on the malaysian police force to be as efficient as in australia.

Added on January 20, 2008, 5:24 pmbecause i used his macbook for some of my work as well,
there should be accounts called Demo Days and Master Image.
i work at machines, so i tested out my work on his computer.

@MissMoo, sorry to hear that. Your brother must share same feel like me who lost my iPhone last week (its about 2 weeks now).

The point she posted here is to notice and warn people about stolen item. Not necessarily to get back the item. Hopefully this will close every possibility of the thief to sell the item. smile.gif

Since you have the cctv footage, you might can ask the police to make an investigation. Go to police station and ask to talk to the Inspector. Tell him you wanna him to investigate the case. The previous police report is just for the sake of report, and they won't do anything about it. They will investigate if you ask the Inspector to investigate it. He/she will instruct their subordinate to investigate.

I didn't do this in my stolen iPhone since I didn't have any video from cctv etc. Good luck smile.gif

if the thief is a construction worker, they will be puzzled with Mac OS (They are windows user) then come with the password and this and that so probably they throw into the nearby dustbin smile.gif

Sorry for the lost. The culprits really need money, as u said they r construction workers. There's no other motif. They will be looking fer a buyer high n low fer sure.. and definately will have a tough time to dispose it. As u said, password protected, no CD & charger. I got the feeling that the buggers or the buyer might turn out at any Apple dealers .. Good luck!

you could just notify the retails shops around saying that you lost your macbook with the serial number ask them to keep an eye

you could add a reward too just for an incentive laugh.gif
