im using not Elantra 2008..but Accent 2008..
Elantra is bigger than Accent n i believe its good too.. one thing for sure..d engine is really quiet n responsive!.. n i believe Elantra's cornering is much more better coz Accent's is not too good as d body feels not "rigid"..maybe a strut bar would do d trick... |

I went to see the car today. Here's my take.
Exterior Initial look the car looked ordinary, because it looks like previous generation Altis. If you give it a few more glance you'll notice that it has a more aggressive look. Nowhere near the current Altis however. Exterior feature is quite basic. There is no signal indicator on the side of the car. Signal lights are absent from the wing mirror as well although it's not the industry standard to have them yet I'd expect them to put it in as it's pretty standard in the car segmet Elantra falls into. Interior A lot of feature for a 93k car. Not up to the standard of Altis but you can live with what Altis has and Elantra don't, unless you want a car that look like the cockpit of a jet fighter and even then you won't take the Altis for that. You'll probably take the civic instead. The dash lighting strikes my heart. Switches and dash are lit in light blue similar to watches night light that's pleasant to the eyes. Center console felt and looked a bit cheap, it looked dull because the buttons are all close to the same size and square in shape. The climate control consist of clear button that are fully illuminated with a information LCD in the middle. Interior don't feel sardine, back passengers have a lot of leg room as well. My knee do not touch the front seat despite it extending all the way back, which is a nice point for taller people/with long legs. Performance Key point after Wednesday is fuel economy. I was surprised by their claim that the 2.0 engine is capable of achieving mile like their 1.6 engine in Accent. Flyer claims 10.9km/L and the sale person personally claimed that the car is capable of traveling to Tanjung Malim from KL on RM25 petrol(RM1.92 rate), both way if I am not mistaken. Engine power is low for a 2.0 engine. Compared with Civic. Ride comfort is compromise between Altis and Civic. Somewhere in the sweet spot of removing wobbly feeling of soft suspension without going too stiff to crack your spine Misc stuff that got me attracted Insulation, the car is well insulated from sound. And KahBintang's tyre choice also make an impact to further lower down ride noise. The car lacks immobilizer but they do put effort into preventing break in from happening in the first place. KahBintang has their own insurance package where it insure you a full car replacement or 100% car price for the first year and 100% car price for 2nd year. There is also a buy back guarantee provided you do not modify the car that will void the warranty condition but hey, who modifies an Elantra? The sport kit is about 10k more. Nothing to shout about and I feel it actually make the car look worse. Go for it if you have ricer gene in you. The only thing that increase performance it the 'sport edition' is the twin exhaust. My take? I have changed my mind from an Altis to an Elantra |

I actually had booked for Civic.....but changed up my mind, after the petrol raise and bad service from Honda...Long waiting queue for the car.
I went to check out on the new Hyundai Elantra last month, found out that the sales from Kah Bintang..is totaly different with the HOnda sales (super lansi). They explain to me everything and can even provide me the Test drive car to drive back home and test for the whole weekend. Sales person are friendly , helpful and they wont chase or request to pay for deposit for the car...NOT like Honda, ask me paid RM 3k for deposit on Civic I have the test drive car with me for the whole weekend. At first i only pump up RM 20 petrol and test ...but found out that, RM 20 petrol can go up to 84KM for this new Elantra. This really amaze me, and i have took the car and go KL-Putrajay and test, i tested 170KM/h, with 4 ppl on the car still not the top speed... can still go up, but i stop at 170 cause this is not my own car.... Car handling is ok......the steering is light and easy to control but if compare with Civic 2.0 feet that civic is still better/ The interior was nice design...with all blue indicator light, tested the sound system..not bad i even tested to connect my Ipod with AUX cable to the car The sound quality nice and found one thing interesting is on the reverse sensor recorded with real human voice...."5 feet, 4 feet, 3 feet...." After my test drive, i decided to take back the booking fees from Honda and get a Hyundai Elantra 2.0, the price between Civic 2.0 and Hyundai 2.0 is huge different....RM128, 588 VS RM93, 888. Almost 35K different, but both also 2.0 Car * To me the only different is on the brand and both "H" logo.......Honda logo "H" while....Hyundai logo "H with H senget a bit, thats why the pirce huge different lolz.. so for current owners of this 08 elantra, do you experienced any problems be it major and minor?
im now in dilenma to decide between elantra and altis. the price is around 15k+ difference and that amount is not that huge and not that small. test drive both car, of course when in T i felt more "action" but elantra is just nice. |

RM20 = 84kmRM20 = 11.11l @ RM1.80/l 84km/11.11l = 7.56km/l I personally think that's some quite high FC. Unless I calculated wrongly. This post has been edited by FlamingFox: Aug 21 2009, 08:37 AM |

but i think he was going more than 110km/h ..which is testing top speed with the car...hence...RM$20 for 84km would be semi normal.
but I am amazed that you credit the suspension and handling for this car...which I've driven them semi city/highway drive....and it seriously was bad for me. I'm surprised the writer did not feel floating at those speed...or maybe the 4 people grounded the car better.... |
