I used kismac for a bit, packet injection didn't really work for me. I borrowed an Old external wireless adapter from a friend of mine that had a PRISM2 Chipset. Packet injection did work when I booted KISMET in Linux but didn't work for me in OSX.
I cracked my heavily torrenting WPA2 Network in just 30 mins just by packet sniffing anyways. |

If i'm not wrong, those on board wifi card on the Macs will not allow packet injection.
You would have to use a 3rd party wifi card. |

'I cracked my heavily torrenting WPA2 Network in just 30 mins just by packet sniffing anyways. u said u cracked ur heavily torrenting WPA2 network in juz 30 min heavily torrenting = meaning u generate alot of DATA, more data to sniff right? this is what u meant right? and 2nd, u crack WPA2 ? erm, so far i never heard of CRACK WPA2 with any algorithm , available option is by brute-forcing with Dictionary or Pre-computed Hash Table?? if there rlly is? do enlighten me? and 3rd. to Crack WPA2, u dont need huge chunk of DATA , u juz need to obtain a handshake and u can do the cracking elsewhere , compared to WEP that MAY reQuire alot of data so was it a type mistake of ur WPA2 or Was it rlly juz WEP encrption. do enlighten me. ty Added on January 18, 2008, 7:30 pm QUOTE(llamasonic @ Jan 18 2008, 03:25 PM) anyone use kismac? try to find external wifi adapter that is using atheros chipset?? i think finding atheros chipsets will be much easier than finding prims2 or hermes onegot it working on my mb with leo - packet injection not working. what external wifi adapter works well? i touch kismet b4 but not KISMAC that is apparently for MAC pc right/[]? Lame.... Natasha called me out and I would have to reiterate myself.
Well, first of all, WEP is crackable using packet sniffing but then WPA/WPA2 required a little bit(or a whole lot more) of work using a brute force attack (MD5 Hash attack). For example, like Here After much tweaking around with my network and settings, I've decided that it's best that my network remain free and no password needed. There are good reasons for this, but i'll explain it next time when I have more time to write. Other than PRISM2 or Atheros chipsets, you could try using a hacked WRT54G router instead. Not as portable, but it does the job, and are easy to find. ***BUT I MUST STRESS THAT WHATEVER YOU MAYBE DOING IS HIGHLY ILLEGAL AND YOU SHOULD PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK*** This post has been edited by Onso: Jan 18 2008, 09:31 PM |
