Yeah. A lot of people still prefer Acer and Dell but now it seems more and more people become design-cautious. Just give it a lil more time. I just started the post anyway.
I just checked the new DV2700 series. HP just released the '7' series for DV2000, DV6000 and DV9000. TX1400 also joined the new line. Nonetheless, nothing beat the Verve. Never seen a laptop that beautiful. Vivala Pavilion! |

QUOTE(williamngwl @ Jan 20 2008, 12:35 AM) How about the driver issues?Added on January 21, 2008, 7:43 pm QUOTE(Jeffery @ Jan 19 2008, 12:57 PM) i bought a pavilion dv2703tx for my aunt. Must admit it's a nice laptop but I'm not the one who using it. btw, does the laptop has overheat problem? The overheating is due to various aspects. Vista not to mention Premium or Bz really makes your CPU and GPU work harder than they do with XP, hence the resulting heat. and I found that it's quite laggy using windows vista premium with aero effect although this baby has dedicated graphic and 2gb of ram... My fren has a HP DV2100CTO with Core2Duo with no dedicated graphics and XP Media Center, the temperature was as regular as other notebook. The fact that, it uses Dedicated Graphic further worsen the power consumption and heat production. Pavilion DV2703tx for aunt?? Dude!!! This post has been edited by ALIMUS: Jan 21 2008, 07:43 PM |

Yeah, Montevina with 45nm Penryn, DDR3 RAM and built-in WiMax!! But keep your expectation low, that just a proposed date. Hopefully, Intel will release around May as they did with their other Centrinos platform. That's like a whole new chipset altogether. but, AMD Fusion is way cooooler!! CPU and GPU on 1 chip. Dowh!! I gotta agree. My HP also very warm. The ventilation is rather poor. Can't really feel the air coming out. The heat is trapped inside. Something is not right with the architecture. Is there anyone who noticed the HP/MTV TAMA? It's basically, a laptop skin competition in conjunction with HP drive to make the computers
personal again. Contestant were required to send their self-designed laptop with messages to the world at heart. I really love this kind of art competition but as u probably already knew the competition was long closed. The winner was Portuguese Joao Oliveira with the theme "Asian Odyssey". Checkout the winning designs at: www.mtv-tama.com This post has been edited by ALIMUS: Feb 1 2008, 11:19 PM |

QUOTE(gobliners @ Jan 29 2008, 12:57 PM) Officially, it is priced at RM3'999 but that's official. U can get a RM50-100 discount from any shop or maybe even more. If u wanna get good price, go to shop like Sri Computers or Cycom. Even better price are offered by kiosks but I don't think u would get the genuine HP carry case. U can buy the HP bag at RM50 anyway at lowyat 3rd floor. |

QUOTE(IReallyNeed Answers @ Jan 31 2008, 10:22 PM) i heard this from a fren of mine... Yeah, your friend is right. Charging a laptop with the battery on would inexorably reduce its life-cycle . If u charge with the batt on, chances are, u will get half the battery life in just over 2 months in a single charge. usually i will use the lappy battery itself when i use my lappy! than when the battery finish,i'll charge it and use it at the same time!! my fren say is better to directly use the ac power and take out the battery when using laptop!!that way,the battery wont spoil as fast? since im a 1st time lappy user, i dun really know if thats true! can anyone comfirm this? and is it safe to take out the bttery and use ac power all the time?will it affect anything? Nonetheless, it's inadvisable. Taking the battery out would cause the current to travel with a slightly different electrical circuit than normally it would with the battery on as the batt act as medium with which the current complete its circuit. Without the batt, sometimes u wud feel a slight stinging sensation on your keyboard tho I'm not sure if this indicates a serious issue. I did feel it sometimes with the batt off. However, the most probable scenario u wud get is a crack to your battery hinge or u may get a loose battery compartment which makes sound whenever u shake ur laptop. Bear in mind, HP clearly warns in every their laptops' manual to not disassemble the battery. This may implies voiding of the warranty if found so. Added on February 1, 2008, 4:32 am QUOTE(gobliners @ Jan 30 2008, 09:56 AM) is there any possiblilities buiyng refurbished hp from the kiosk?? how to differentiate between original hp and refurbished hp besides recognizing the model no.. I don't think HP Malaysia sell refurbished laptops as does DELL. Below are the refurbished/imported laptops which are not under the warranty provided by HP Malaysia. I believe there are more now. - Pavilion dv6409us - Pavilion dv6409tg - Pavilion dv6433t - Pavilion dv6174t - Pavilion dv6563cl - Pavilion dv2415nr - Pavilion dv6305t - Pavilion dv9310us - Pavilion dv6448se - Pavilion dv2550se They may come with International Warranty but HP Malaysia won't be covering the warranty neither in parts or labors. Nonetheless, these laptops by no means are illegal laptops. If you are thinking of buying one or just realized you just bought one, warranty will be provided by the shops/resellers that sell the units. I heard there is a shop that sell this imported units from Taiwan, if you happen to have a problem, they will send the laptop to Taiwan for warranty claim but of course it will consume a lot of time and maybe cash for the shipping. The good thing is, they give consumers extra choices, say the Pavilion DV2415nr. U can get a Pavilion DV2000 with webcam and remote control with less than RM3000 for a AMD Turion X2 processor. Introducing the new HP Pavilion DV2800 Artist Edition Asian Odyssey.
The dude in the picture is none other than the Designer of the imprint himself, 21 years old Joao Oliveira who won the laptop DV2800 with his designed imprint. I'm not sure about the availability of DV2800 series but the Asian Odyssey will be available at least for US market come Spring. For more pictures of the Artist Edition, check it out on the very 1st page of this posting. |

QUOTE(n20nine @ Feb 2 2008, 04:42 PM) guys i am thinking of getting this, but pretty concerned about the warranty and support. Would be getting it from the US and am not sure if HP UK, Aus and most importantly Malaysia will support it....any idea? If u buy it frm proper shop with international warranty, shud be no problem. Be sure to ask about the specific countries coverage. Some1 is advising on buying global care pack. |

Ur getting T9 CPU. I wonder if the Nvidia is not the typical 8400M. Wait till CNY hols end, and ask for the Nation warranty coverage. I don't think u will get this specs with the price in Malaysia. Here is what I configured in the US site: 2.5GHz, 6MB cache T9300 processor - penryn 2GM ram 250GB hard disk 128MB nVidia card Intel 4965 card with bluetooth webcam, mic, fingerprint reader This is the dv2700t Special edition model and now they are giving discount coupons, and guess what? the total comes up to only RM 3698 |

QUOTE(gobliners @ Feb 8 2008, 01:16 PM) guyz..how do i partition my dv2703tx?? To partition disk, I only know how to divide 1 partition into 2: To do this, right click on mycomputer/computer, open down storage, click manage, find the partition u would like to shrink/divide. For other task, google and download magic partition. or is they any specific tutorial for me to clean install everything back.. U will need to make a recovery CDs 1st in order to clean install. Go to Search Panel, find Recovery Disc Creation. U will need 2 blank DVDs. Follow the instruction. Bear in mind, the recovery disc creation can only be done once! After finished burning the recovery discs. Insert disc 1, restart, check the BIOS to boot from CD-ROM (usu this is the defaut, so no need to go into BIOS). Follow the instruction. Other than this, u can simply press F11 during the boot up. It also act as recovery console but burn the recovery out 1st for safety. |
