There are a few VERY IMPORTANT items you should take into consideration when buying a dv2000.

1) Make sure you have the 1 year local warranty by buying it from local manufacturers.

2) Stress test your PC, specially the processor within the 1 year warranty.

This is because the dv2000 series has a high degree of probability of failure within the first year. I acquired 4 units for our office and have already sent 2 for motherboard repair. It seems that the overheating problem is not just an annoyance to your palms but to your wallet too. The 1st one was within warranty, the other was beyond warranty. Good thing we had an extended warranty from an insurance company. Motherboard related repairs would cost you around 1000 USD.

There is really no replacement model from other manufacturers for this beautiful, classy and capable mobile. That is why I am still getting another 2730 for myself. (Core 2 2.2, 2Gig Ram, HD-DVD, and HDMI). I will just have to live with the overheating problem by making sure I have it insurance-covered for 3 years.

well, from what i have read - did extensive research on this model as i am going to buy it. those with the models dv2000~dv2500 are very prone to having overheating issues and most of the time the motherboard and maybe the graphics card too would need replacing. since the dv2600 model till now, the dv2700, there have been no problems yet, only some ppl having problems installing xp on the dv2700..

am getting the special edition version... will pull the trigger next week for :
2.5GHz T9300 processor 6MB L2 cache
2GB RAM
250GB hard disk
128MB nvidia 8400 gs card
lightscribe dvd drive
wireless-n with bluetooth
fingerprint reader, mic, webcam
high capacity 6 cell batt

if i can wait till july, hopefully the montevina version will be out.

some dv2700 owners claim that it runs much cooler than the previous 2000 series, but a bit warm where the hard disk is...

u have to install windows xp first then install windows vista to enable dual boot
*
If not mistaken i think you would need to slipstream some drivers to the XP installation disc in order for you to install your XP. Check with Mr.Google for slipstream (nLite i think) then google around for dual boot (vistapro something) boot up manual. There are a few forums quite comprehensive about the dual boots for HP notebooks.

Cheers.

Montevina is expected to be out in the mid of this year. It will be embedded with 45nm processing chip. The small size of the chip implies better efficiency, hence faster performance, less heat, longer battery life. Better wait if u don't reli need a laptop at this moment. I presume the next dv2000 generation will at least come with nvidia 8600 series.
