Hi, anyone driving this car? i got mine in year 2005 and this car is really lacking in low end torque.
every time i step on the pedal there will be a moment of lag before the car starts moving. Furthermore, the fuel consumption is really really TERRIBLE. i pump around RM100 everytime i refuel and i only get 280-300km before the the light comes up. Even my previous 1.6 waja has better power and FC than this car( Rm100 can go for 500km)
anyone in this forum driving this car has the same situation as me? or there is some mechanical error with my engine?

2nd Gen right?
1 full tank (from F to E mark) can only go from KL-Penang via NSE with no traffic jam.
It's a real petrol drinker.
Although it's quite powerful going uphill (due to the realtime 4WD) & can reach 160km/h easily.

hmmm, i thought the 2nd gen crv are all 2wd? mine doesn't have the 4wd embossed on my back window like the latest crv. So i assume they are 2wds. powerful 0.o. i can already feel the lag on level surface. Mine tops at 160kmh at 4th gear. it wont go further unless i swtich to 3rd gear

All CR-Vs (1st to 3rd Gen) are realtime 4WD.
Meaning, during normal cruising, it's 2WD. Then when the sensor/system detects a need, it switches to 4WD.

ohh icic. i guess there's no switch to switch it off and on or an indicator to tell you if its on or not. are there? crazy fuel guzzler even a 2.4 estima and harrier has better FC than the crv. scorgio, do you experience some lag when you accelerate on normal road like me?

ts says when he steps on accelrator there's a lag, so better if send to a workshop to check if any of the pistons are failing to fire, could be that problem.

Ya. No indication, no switch. Same like RAV4.

No. I don't remember experiencing any lag.

Which SC/workshop you service your car? Ask them to check.

I'm not familiar with Honda, can't help on this.

I took it from PG-KL, full tank lasted only 340km, highway running at 120-130km/h.

i own both 1st and 2nd generation of CR-V
it belongs to my parents anyway

1st generation has no VTEC
2nd generation is powered by K20A i-VTEC engine

IMHO, 1st generation is more powerful
i admit that 2nd generation is lack of power and heavier than 1st generation
when i first see my dad's car, i WOWed... my dad's CR-V has type-R engine, but different tuning though
i guess that's why they switched to R18 SOHC for 3rd generation, which you can find in civic 1.8

yea i had the 1st generation as well. much more powerful and fuel efficient. i thought it would be the same for the 2nd gen and it turned out like that.

never test the 2nd gen. but my dad 1st gen RM 100 surely can past 400km anytime on normal road. highway? might past 500km as well. torque at low end really good. i think better than perdana V6 that i've tested.

I totally agree as i own a 1st gen crv. The fc is not too bad with 100 can go up to 450-500 (city driving). And the acceleration is pretty fast too and i don't feel any lag at all. thumbup.gif

Actually there is always an option to install an aftermarket piggyback to tune and optimise our crv engine's performance besides reducing fc. I'm planning to get 1 installed soon but it's pretty expensive though. Last i heard a full set of e-manage including the small notebook to tune cost around 4k+ sweat.gif

go change to a smaller car, e.g Proton Savvy
RM50 petrol can easily travel 400km on city+highway

Well that's what i was told by a friend of mine who owned a jazz with e-manage. The whole set including the small note book wor not the standard without notebook. But then it's in kch therefore it's much more expensive compared to k.l i guess. But it's pretty efficient for his car, 60km drive only consume rm3. Average speed around 120km/h. Anyway jazz is only 1.5 therefore less fc compared to crv though.

my dad also has a 2nd gen CRV, i admit the I-Vtec is quite a fuel guzzler...KL-Kampar running at 160-170kmh, my fuel consumption would be about 3/4 tank...thats like rm80 for 160kms.....but the sound is nice, plus the K20A has lotsa potential, esp if mix with aftermarket parts from K20AR and do some tuning....plus its 4ws gives good stability during the rain

wait till k20a parts become cheaper, then it'll be fun to play

e-manage is an aftermarket ECU
not everyone can afford to buy new cars, bro
K20A engine in 2nd gen of CR-V has good potential because it's an type-R engine
it's just different tuning and 4-wheel drive base makes its FC very bad and underpowered

try sunway - JC racing
they're expert in tuning VTECs
they just add-on another ECU if i'm not mistaken
