Question: How do you upgrade your iPod Touch if you have neither AOL nor .Mac accounts?

you need iTunes, an iTunes account, and the ability to purchase with that account. this is for the 5 apps.

however, upgrading to 1.1.3 firmware is free via iTunes.

I'm one of those bizarre people who is against jailbreaking and go for original. Am now downloading the new upgrade. Hopefully they added the ability to view lyrics. *crosses fingers*

20U$ for 5 extra apps? Please jailbreak for the love of god. I don't think its justifiable spending RM70 on widgets.

Some people would rather use things the way it's intended. I bet you've burnt RM70 on something more menial, yes?

To TS: Maybe we can use iTunes gift cards to purchase the 5 apps. I'll check around and re-confirm.

What if you need to Restore your iPod if something goes wrong, pay another 20 bucks? What if it save inside our PC system and if system crash, format and pay another 20 bucks for another apps cause the copy already cleaned.

What if apple change to FOC tomorrow?

Btw, we got a new dock for iPod touch.

quite frankly, the iphone dock is ugly....i prefer the 1.1.1/1.1.2 ipod touch dock.

1.1.3 is free upgrade for anyone
and u only need to pay for the extra apps, lyric/chapter/organize icon is part of the paid upgrade as well, they doesnt come with 1.1.3

will they include flash? and to view pdf files?

you can already view PDF files...
flash... not yet...

1.1.3 is a tempting update for me, cause with all the new features excluding the apps. If the 1.1.3 updates including free apps, I'll be done jailbreaking, revert to stock and update to new firmware happily. My only reason on why I jailbreak is because of the 4 apps, I don't use Stocks.

agree, the old dock looks much more better!

it's kinda nonsense for charging for the extras, while new iPod Touch that starts shipping today have that new apps for free, preinstalled.This may give an impression that Apple is screwing up early adopters of Touch. but it's up to users to choose. now they got 3 options :
1) Add the features via jailbreak
2) Add via iTunes (owww...USD20 terbang...)
3) Not adding at all

mmm...also i think that xtras can't be purchased 'officially' here as the whole procedure is through iTunes.
