It's a forest and I had to wear the mask for safety reasons.
The net was my choice. I manual focused it so the camera won't get confused. Marshall did allow me to enter on the opposite side where there's no netting, but doing so meant I had to wear a mask. It was either the net or the mask. Rental masks didn't have fans to keep them from fogging up.
And I was using a D70 SLR. Must look through the viewfinder, unlike common digital cameras where you can use the screen.
Ahh, I used a DSLR as well when I was taking photos for a paintball tournament. I am not an expert by all means but it is usually better to go with the mask and enter the arena. Was using rental masks as well but they could have given me a better one, not too sure.
It takes a while to get used to looking at the viewfinder through the mask but I am sure you will nail it in future events. Good try and keep up the good work.
Ask Aaron to let you tag along with his weekly sessions then you can take more photos as well. Its quite an experience to be in the field while they are shooting each other. No pain no gain so when you are inside, you get better angles as well.
Just be alert to make sure no one shoots at you and be prepared to shield your camera with your body at times. Wah seh, I speak like I got tons of experience but only shot one paintball event
