What's the diff between 40GB & 80GB PS3? in therms of feature.
A kinda stupid question... what is the purpose to use the harddrive?

40GB - not compatible with PS2 game, cannot play SACD, less USB ports, no multicard slot, smaller HDD size
80GB - all of the 40GB features + all the above |

I'm a little regretting my 40 GB purchase due to the fact that I can't play ps2 games. I haven't got a chance to play the excellent MGS3 and GOW series.

40GB PS3 cannot play PS2 games. Only 80GB can play. Another thing is that you cannot play pirated PS2 games in 80GB.

You forgot to mentioned that 40GB is using the 65nm CELL BE whereas the 80GB is using the 90nm CELL BE which runs hotter and consume more wattage.

QUOTE(ar188 @ Jan 15 2008, 03:44 PM) yeah that one uses the newer process... Performance wise it should still be the same but the 65nm CELL BE is consumes less wattage and it runs cooler. Ideal for folding freak like me though I have to say even when it folds, it's still hot not that it matters to me anyway... doubt there's any performance increase from my 1st gen 60GB version... |
