guys can refer to this. they said "insider" info from redmond.
Is keeping the 360 horizontal more safe than keeping it vertical? I don't think so. Vertical exposes more surface area and volume to heat exchange with cooler room air. And I think opens more vent holes. Just don't let it fall over. http://www.8bitjoystick.com/archives/jake_...th_failures.php This post has been edited by bllizard19: Jan 20 2008, 08:09 PM |

QUOTE(bllizard19 @ Jan 20 2008, 08:08 PM) guys can refer to this. they said "insider" info from redmond. i won't really trust that source. i scoured the internet on this..and almost everybody recommends to put it horizontally. what u can do is..to elevate the console higher from the floor when horizontal. to allow air flow under the motherboard. Is keeping the 360 horizontal more safe than keeping it vertical? I don't think so. Vertical exposes more surface area and volume to heat exchange with cooler room air. And I think opens more vent holes. Just don't let it fall over. http://www.8bitjoystick.com/archives/jake_...th_failures.php when u put it vertically, yes u are exposing the motherboard side and making it easier to cool, but then you're closing the vents on the bottom (right, when horizontal) and disallowing the console to suck in more air. also, read that disc drive would be on more stress when playing the discs vertically. yea, i know, but this console wasn't actually designed to be in vertical. a lot of flaws, all left like that during shipping due to money hungry bastards at microsoft. |
