Apart of getting settings from the network provider, or they failed, or you still have not receive anything after 30 hours and 20 times of doing the instructions above, you can always head to the phone manufacturer website and get the settings there.

It is as simple as, click the link below, then follow the instruction below. Usually, they will ask for your phone model, then your country, then the network provider, then key in your no. and the setting will be sent independently.

Make it complete, I think its hard for Telco's related setting since they have internal / own OTA & NTMS settings to be sent to subscribers.

Its much more fast, easy n reliable from Mobilephone manufacturer themselves ..

Motorola - https://hellomoto.wdsglobal.com/site/phonefirst

Ericsson & SonyEricsson - http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...l%3Den%26sa%3DG or http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/ph...tup?cc=my&lc=en

do you have mms setting? it has to be together with gprs service for it to sent out.... or if you have press *136#, you need to do the "3gwap nokia XXXX" setting.

i think 3g rates are more xpensive than the normal data transfer thru ordinary wap and mms because it's an upgrade in term of its speed. so yu may choose which setting suits you most nod.gif

it depends on how you prefer the connection speed. if it's 3G you would expect fastest data transfer in no time and as for the normal WAP, a normal speed of GPRS is considered quite satisfying but slower than 3G rolleyes.gif

normally i would scold them before they scold me tongue.gif . just scold them back.

tips : when call cs, get their name 1st. write down. if they scold you, just complain to them.

=================== sato said below .....

Hi i just bought the HKV HK9100 (tv phone) but i can't use internet (WAP, GPRS), do u mind to show me how to do the setting?
(1)I went to Celcom 019 the staff claimed can't help due to HKV (HongKong Video)didn't apply their software to Celcom so they do not know how to set up gprs.
(2)I went HKV shop and the staff there claimed it is Celcom problem, so i called Celcom careline again.
(3)I called Celcom careline and it costed/charged me few RM for waiting & talking to the operator but very unfortunetely i still can't get the answer.
The staff asked me to wait for 2hrs to 48hrs as they will resolved this setting problem and call back to me within the time frame that given. But frankly said, i feel not confident that he will call me back ~ lah ...

If u know, pls help .... thx!
I hv tried this link (below) but still cannot do the Celcom GPRS setting .... :-(

Unfortunately this is not applicable to Celcom. I am facing such situation. Coz I am using celcom postpaid 3G on my Nokia 3250.

For the setting

1. SMS "3Gwap "BRAND" "MODEL" and sent to 22333 example "3gwap nokia n70"
2. SMS "3GMMS "BRAND" "MODEL" and sent to 22333 example "3gmms nokia n70"

This is only for maxis ? or applicable for others as well ?

i want to ask simple question...
can i surf internet when my credit is expired?
because when i use shortcut key to internet (on my phone), i can go online at several pages/links there (of course there are links that cannot being accessed, it said out of prepaid credit)...
do my credit will be deducted when i recharge my credit?
or is it several links are allowed to surf for free?

thanks for your help..

Some page is free and some are not. You can't access a page that requires credit if you dont have any. Thus answer to your question is: your credit will not be deducted when you recharge later since it does not allow you in the first place smile.gif

Setup Configuration Of 3G, GPRS, EDGE, MMS For Maxis, Celcom & DiGi

Final Updates - February 2008

This could help you to configure your mobile phone (sony ericsson, nokia, siemens etc). This guide is example and you must do the option yourself. Note that IPv4 (may) doesn't exist in SE or siemens. answer to ur question:
1. the setting sent over the air to your phone need to identify the right model since different model behave differently.
2. Some setting can be used on closer model (like in ur case), however 'closer' model is a vague definition because only tech savvy / skilled user can tell which model is close to which. nod.gif

MMS delivery doesn't depend on 3G coverage. However it can be slower sometimes because of the data transactions needed to be donwloaded to your phone.

You can do a simple test by sending an empty MMS (blank, no pics) to yourself on any area (2G or 3G coverage).
If you received it --> You're fine smile.gif
if you do not receive it --> check the settings on your phone and your data activation (GPRS/3G) wink.gif

Hope it helps rolleyes.gif

I nearly vomited to get my DiGi MMS settings activated on my Samsung X700. doh.gif
Tried n times already, saved and rewrote the profile. Still can't use, neither send or receive. doh.gif

Previously was using my DiGi on a Nokia phone and it worked, but now it can't work anymore. cry.gif

Luckily I have my Hotlink on SE P1i as backup. sweat.gif Have to use Hotlink to send MMS. sweat.gif

Got a problem here. I downloaded the settings from *100#, MAxis MMS 2.0 and Maxis WAP 2.0. Is there a setting with MMS&GPRS in one ? It's very troublesome that everytime I wanna access the GPRS, i need to switch profile to Maxis WAP 2.0 .

you can get the bundle settings on maxis.com.my--> get your phone settings here!-->Get Phone Settings

actually you dont have to switch profile when you have both and want to use either MMS or GPRS (WAP). When you received the settings from *100#, the phone will prompt you whether to set it as default or not (most phones). If you select yes then it should take care of it. nod.gif

each phones has its own profile for browser settings (profile) and MMS.

u should first delete all the settings on your phone and then retry the sms settings (its free nod.gif )

if still cannot work then you must do a manual settings. Follow the steps below ya , but before that please do the following
dial *136*4# (to deactivate 3G if you are on 3G) and then do *133# (to activate 2G)
[for motorola L6]
1. Go to Main Menu
2. Select Web Session
3. Select New Entry

4. Enter the following details:
Name: Maxis WAP GPRS
Homepage: http://wap.maxis.com.my
Gateway IP 1: 202.075.133.049
WAP Port 1: 80
Service Type 1: HTTP
Timeout: 2 minutes
GPRS APN: net
User Name: maxis
Password: wap

5. Select Done to complete.
6. Select the profile Maxis WAP GPRS and press Menu and select Set Default.

hope it helps rolleyes.gif

some diferences:
1. maxis 3G wap has more features on it. Ex:Maxis 3G tv, more pics than text icon_idea.gif
2. Speed. Since ur phone is a 3G phone, you could maximize the experience by maxis 3G service. thumbup.gif

as far as the charges concern they are the same.

you can get the setting from the 1st post on this thread.

You can't download the Mini Opera application because you need settings n activation to the internet. again refer to the 1st post to get what you need biggrin.gif

Hi,
GPRS is part of GSM standard. If your phone does not support data service you wont be able to use MMS. In a GSM mode you can select PS(packet switch) and CS(circuit switch). PS is normally for data and CS is for voice. In a 3G phone you can select to be in GSM only or both with 3G. hope it helps smile.gif

Please clarify what data service means? Is it image file or only written words or both?

Actually i have this problem buying a GPRS Alarm system which use the mobile frequency. This means that device can be control anyway you are on the planet as long as your phone is available. So the idea is if burglary happened in my house for example the Alarm system will capture the image of the burglar and send the picture through MMS.

But now the problem is the MMS not working either because of wrong setting or just because the device does not support data service like you said.

However it is capable of sending e-mail plak. Now my question how come GSM support e-mail service but not MMS pulak? What's wrong with the device or the data service provider?

basic understanding is: anything other than normal voice call & sms are data services.
MMS is data. Email is data. Videocall is data. hmm...what else can a phone do??? flex.gif

Since your phone support email then it must support MMS. for confirmation you can go to: gsmarena.com and search for your phone model.

please refer to the first post on this thread for configuration. smile.gif

hmm...china phone unfortunately dont have it. you can try search for it at maxis.com.my? they have some of the weird brand name that could br what you looking for...

however the other way is to refer to page 1 for the generic parameter needed for connection. As far as maxis is concerned you only need to set the APN = net (for 2G) or unet (for 3G). other parameters are not critical. nod.gif

basic understanding is: anything other than normal voice call & sms are data services.
MMS is data. Email is data. Videocall is data. hmm...what else can a phone do???  flex.gif

Since your phone support email then it must support MMS. for confirmation you can go to: gsmarena.com and search for your phone model.

please refer to the first post on this thread for configuration.  smile.gif

Thanks for the support anyway. I have contacted MOBITEL my mobile service provider and they told us that the only way to make the MMS work is to send message to the designated number given by them. Then they can resend back all the data for MMS send to the device automatically make the setting correct. Then MMS can be used.

I appreciate your efforts. Thank you.

Guys, some noob questions:
I downloaded internet settings from SE's website, but it never finished downloading but internet works fine, normal??

Also, exiting the browser is all that is needed right to get out of the internet? No more data transfer and charges etc.??

My dad was worried about this so that's why I'm trying to get some clarification.

hmm...it's phone dependent. but in your case i guess SE doesnt have multitasking phones. unless it is a smart phone. Smart phone can run other data connection at background so you will be charged rolleyes.gif

bcos to encourage people to use more during off peak hour. better utilization of the network capacity and also to get some people off the 'congested' period for better user experiences thumbup.gif

A question, does mms cost GPRS charge?
for example, 1 MMS sent costs 25 sen for telco A, 1 sen/kb for GPRS, if I send a MMS with picture of 25kb, will I be cost only 25 sen or roughly 50 sen?

telco company does not charge customer for the GPRS traffic used. Customer only have to pay the cost for MMS only which is what the telco specified. In your case 25sen nod.gif

hmm...when you did the *136# you need to wait for the confirmation SMS telling you that your 3G has been activated. If still havent got please do it again. Then follow the steps below.
1. delete all the settings on your phone. EVERYTHING nod.gif
2. request for new settings (you can use the *100#-->settings
3. Save the settings and set as default
4. restart your phone

Hope it helps. rolleyes.gif

guys, please check your settings on the phone. look through the earlier post for settings information. The main thing is that ur settings must match what u r activated on.
3G MMS = u r 3G activated
MMS = u r 2G/2.5 activated

You need 3G to access fast internet on mobile. without 3G internet will not work streamingly using GPRS or GSM

Oh if you already have 3G celcom broadband data Simcard data plan then you should be able to use video call. Is your phone can use 3g internet now? if yes then you just need the right setting to make your video calls work

Using GPRS does not need to be applied it just need some settings you can find the setting in DIGI website how to setup the GPRS setting. About the charges it will based on usage basis just like SMS. So it will be charge whenever you send MMS.

The plan i think is for 3G or wireless connection but not for GPRS

That means your 1st card can only use for broadband cannot be used for video call but internet only.

OK firstly is your normal call card upgraded to 3G yet? If you haven't upgraded it to 3G it cannot make video call or using 3G. Then your solution is to go to celcom center and request them to upgrade for you sometimes they charge RM20 for upgrading the card some celcom center is free.

some GPRS setting requires online activation or call the service provider to do it for you....very fortunately though most service provider maxis, celcom, and Digi actually provide FREE online setting for you. Just follow instruction and they will do it FREE. no need to teach.

Digi - http://www.digi.com.my/data_services/messa...ure.do?page=sms
Celcom - http://www.celcom.com.my/cep/customer-serv...y/gprs/faq.html

i had an issue here.. my n79 seems unable to use video call feature although i ald downloaded those setting on to my phone.. everything was checked and the configuration is perfectly correct. however, i still cant use video call.. is it because of my 4 yrs old sim card?? my telco is hotlink and my sim card is running 64K only. Is it the limitation of my sim card? how much hotlink will charge if i change to new sim card.. thx a lot..

Hotlink/Maxis
Maxis Manual Configuration
For DiGi GPRS Activation
Digi Manual Configuration
For Celcom GPRS And MMS Activation
Apart of getting settings from the network provider, or they failed, or you still have not receive anything after 30 hours and 20 times of doing the instructions above, you can always head to the phone manufacturer website and get the settings there.

It is as simple as, click the link below, then follow the instruction below. Usually, they will ask for your phone model, then your country, then the network provider, then key in your no. and the setting will be sent independently.

Celcom Manual Configuration
NOTE : For those wanted the GPRS and MMS Setting for CHINA Phone, please select the i-mobile phone setting. MOST of them are compatible.

normally it wont unless u go internet a lot. 3.5g is faster than 3g. the system would go for the fastest speed available. smile.gif

not at all.
your bill will remain the same.(u will be charged for wat u used)
3g & 3.5g is only the speed of the network.

Hey hotlink users!
if you're in between the age group of 17-24 years old....
could you all spend few mins (5-8mins) on my survey?

I'm doing a twinning programme with the University of Abertay Dundee and currently conducting a research topic on Maxis Hotlink users for the final project of my Marketing Research module. Kindly spend few moments to help out as I need more & more respondents...

here's the link.. http://www.esurveyspro.com/Survey.aspx?id=...63-503f9f9c3881

Thank you very much!

p/s: just PM me if you've any feedbacks =)

hey guys,

need some help here. I've called digi 4 times today to activate my mms.
Each time i tried i press yes to install the setting, i get this:

"authentication failed, setting discarded"

I did everything they asked me to do, delete data comunications settings, type SETUP send to 2000, download each WAP and MMS seperately...etc etc, but i still get back that msg.

I tried to download 4 times already but i still get that msg.
Anyone got the same problem before?

Thanks! notworthy.gif

U need to clear all your setting in your phone first.
Once comfirmed empty, only proceed to get the setting via sms, website, or call up.
If still really cant get, my suggestion is to backup your phone data, then give a restore phone setting to factory restored.
Then try to get da setting again...

why is hard to sent mms using x3-02 or c3 (symbian s40) via maxis? get 3g setting and also 2g setting. mms wont sent out, try to use other phone yes the mms sent quite easily. is it because of the phone?
been testing for about  5 C3 and x3-o2, same result, fail. any ideas guys?

Hi bro..

I'm having the same problem with the C3 as well. I'm still unable to send out mms after getting the settings.
Are you able to send mms now or still no solution? If you have the solution please share with me.
Thanks in advance.
