Some page is free and some are not. You can't access a page that requires credit if you dont have any. Thus answer to your question is: your credit will not be deducted when you recharge later since it does not allow you in the first place smile.gif

but if it wont affect anything

y they want us to choose phone model ? jus curious tongue.gif

answer to ur question:
1. the setting sent over the air to your phone need to identify the right model since different model behave differently.
2. Some setting can be used on closer model (like in ur case), however 'closer' model is a vague definition because only tech savvy / skilled user can tell which model is close to which. nod.gif

why i can't receive mms when there is no 3g coverage?
*
MMS delivery doesn't depend on 3G coverage. However it can be slower sometimes because of the data transactions needed to be donwloaded to your phone.

You can do a simple test by sending an empty MMS (blank, no pics) to yourself on any area (2G or 3G coverage).
If you received it --> You're fine smile.gif
if you do not receive it --> check the settings on your phone and your data activation (GPRS/3G) wink.gif

Hope it helps rolleyes.gif

Got a problem here. I downloaded the settings from *100#, MAxis MMS 2.0 and Maxis WAP 2.0. Is there a setting with MMS&GPRS in one ? It's very troublesome that everytime I wanna access the GPRS, i need to switch profile to Maxis WAP 2.0 .
*
you can get the bundle settings on maxis.com.my--> get your phone settings here!-->Get Phone Settings

actually you dont have to switch profile when you have both and want to use either MMS or GPRS (WAP). When you received the settings from *100#, the phone will prompt you whether to set it as default or not (most phones). If you select yes then it should take care of it. nod.gif

each phones has its own profile for browser settings (profile) and MMS.

i keyed in 0123 but it says 'Update cannot continue. Contact carrier for additional information'.  doh.gif

u should first delete all the settings on your phone and then retry the sms settings (its free nod.gif )

if still cannot work then you must do a manual settings. Follow the steps below ya , but before that please do the following
dial *136*4# (to deactivate 3G if you are on 3G) and then do *133# (to activate 2G)
[for motorola L6]
1. Go to Main Menu
2. Select Web Session
3. Select New Entry

4. Enter the following details:
Name: Maxis WAP GPRS
Homepage: http://wap.maxis.com.my
Gateway IP 1: 202.075.133.049
WAP Port 1: 80
Service Type 1: HTTP
Timeout: 2 minutes
GPRS APN: net
User Name: maxis
Password: wap

5. Select Done to complete.
6. Select the profile Maxis WAP GPRS and press Menu and select Set Default.

hope it helps rolleyes.gif

hi, sorry if this sound stupid (really a noob in hp lah)

i'm using sony z610i (maxis) & i just wants to ask abt maxis 3g wap & maxis gprs wap, is there any differences or it's the same thing??
do i need it??
if it's different then how do i get this setting??

it's because i don't have the maxis gprs wap but i saw this setting in my friend's hp (same model)

1 more question (a bit out of topic) i've tried to download opera mini into my hp but it said "failed to connect to the internet", why is that???

sorry for the long post & thanks in advance
*
some diferences:
1. maxis 3G wap has more features on it. Ex:Maxis 3G tv, more pics than text icon_idea.gif
2. Speed. Since ur phone is a 3G phone, you could maximize the experience by maxis 3G service. thumbup.gif

as far as the charges concern they are the same.

you can get the setting from the 1st post on this thread.

You can't download the Mini Opera application because you need settings n activation to the internet. again refer to the 1st post to get what you need biggrin.gif

i wanna ask here. Is it possible that only with GSM and without GPRS we can use MMS? or must have GPRS then can use MMS?
*
Hi,
GPRS is part of GSM standard. If your phone does not support data service you wont be able to use MMS. In a GSM mode you can select PS(packet switch) and CS(circuit switch). PS is normally for data and CS is for voice. In a 3G phone you can select to be in GSM only or both with 3G. hope it helps smile.gif

Please clarify what data service means? Is it image file or only written words or both?

Actually i have this problem buying a GPRS Alarm system which use the mobile frequency. This means that device can be control anyway you are on the planet as long as your phone is available. So the idea is if burglary happened in my house for example the Alarm system will capture the image of the burglar and send the picture through MMS.

But now the problem is the MMS not working either because of wrong setting or just because the device does not support data service like you said.

However it is capable of sending e-mail plak. Now my question how come GSM support e-mail service but not MMS pulak? What's wrong with the device or the data service provider?
*
basic understanding is: anything other than normal voice call & sms are data services.
MMS is data. Email is data. Videocall is data. hmm...what else can a phone do??? flex.gif

Since your phone support email then it must support MMS. for confirmation you can go to: gsmarena.com and search for your phone model.

please refer to the first post on this thread for configuration. smile.gif

bro what abt china phones?
*
hmm...china phone unfortunately dont have it. you can try search for it at maxis.com.my? they have some of the weird brand name that could br what you looking for...

however the other way is to refer to page 1 for the generic parameter needed for connection. As far as maxis is concerned you only need to set the APN = net (for 2G) or unet (for 3G). other parameters are not critical. nod.gif

Guys, some noob questions:
I downloaded internet settings from SE's website, but it never finished downloading but internet works fine, normal??

Also, exiting the browser is all that is needed right to get out of the internet? No more data transfer and charges etc.??

My dad was worried about this so that's why I'm trying to get some clarification.
*
hmm...it's phone dependent. but in your case i guess SE doesnt have multitasking phones. unless it is a smart phone. Smart phone can run other data connection at background so you will be charged rolleyes.gif

why sometime maxis charge more in day , when nite more cheaper???

bcos to encourage people to use more during off peak hour. better utilization of the network capacity and also to get some people off the 'congested' period for better user experiences thumbup.gif

A question, does mms cost GPRS charge?
for example, 1 MMS sent costs 25 sen for telco A, 1 sen/kb for GPRS, if I send a MMS with picture of 25kb, will I be cost only 25 sen or roughly 50 sen?
*
telco company does not charge customer for the GPRS traffic used. Customer only have to pay the cost for MMS only which is what the telco specified. In your case 25sen nod.gif

guys, please check your settings on the phone. look through the earlier post for settings information. The main thing is that ur settings must match what u r activated on.
3G MMS = u r 3G activated
MMS = u r 2G/2.5 activated
