MM, how bout trying this lil` trick?

On searching for satelites, make a phone call to any free calls and disconnect it after some time, will found that the gps has already locked down on to satelites

Personally tested it and works

On a side note, just recently change my housing to black, during changing, i think they spoil my gps antenna and microphone, have to take back to the shop several times, and even show them the service manual for repairing gps, noob effin shop but on the positive side, after tweaking the gps antenna several times, not only it works again, but i found it to be more sensitive than before, i could get lock on cold start just a mere 3 minutes, without A-GPS on




Anyway, my pics of my N95 Black now, hehe after applying N95-8GB theme on it, some unsuspecting dude offer me rm 1500 for it , thought it was the 8GB model

P/S anyone tried NiiMe yet? Turns your N95 into a Wii Controller alike by using the accelerometer to control the W A S D buttons, fun for racing simulation games

you are on the right track actually, but 0.5 cm isn`t much signal strength though, try positioning urself in a place where there is no tall buildings and under the clear sky

and have patient, it take sometimes to get connected

mm, could be your gps antenna problem.. the gps will only lock on satelites when they have constant full signals ( at least 3 ), anyway did u change ur cover or open your phone for fixing before?

anyway do try moving to other spots and see, could be several problems with the enviroment such as rocky hills and cloudy

Many shops do offer this service, however, the price range varies depending on the service charge and the casing quality, Nokia shops are normally expensive with price around rm 200 ++ however, u could DIY urself by just buying the housing and assembling urself, price around rm 70 can settle for a grade AAA casing

There are cheap housing just cost merely rm 18, but it sucks

However, its not recommended if u are a noob in these, cz even experts may have difficulties in reassembling as in my case with the shop, my gps antenna and microphone is wrongly attached by them

Well, according to the shop, those expensive one normally won`t decolourises so easily ( paint fade ), but cheap one does after a certain or period or accidentally scratched it

how to check?

he told me to look at the behind of the keypad given with the housing, if its coloured, meaning that its a cheap keypad and will decolourise easily, but if it isn`t, meaning its high grade casing

oh, normally they wont brand it as grade A , only AA and AAA available

Since the quality and build is the same, why don`t u opt for a cheaper one? a good casing should be around rm 70 +- , plus installation fees rm 30 or less , around rm 100

If u opt for zitron or avaxx, prepare to fork out at least rm 200 , but u have a peace of mind

And please find shops that have experience, else prepare to fork out extra money for repairation cz the changing of cover for N95 is not as easy as it seems, the bottom part is quite delicate, having the gps antenna and microphone, even experience users in N95forum.com sometimes make mistake at that part

also, the genuine black casing at the back there, it feels rubbery not plastically, and what i known ( from n95user forum ), there are no OEM black front facsia for N95-1 yet, hence they are not supplied by Nokia but 3rd party manufacturer, but what the heck, as long as the quality is good, replica or not, still acceptable

there are no settings for gps, either is because gps antenna problem, or ur enviroment problem.

what i done is i ask for another set of N95, and take it out to the same location and compare the signal, mine get 0 satelites and whilst his get 3-4 satelites at the same area, and hence he has no choice but to fix it for me, i even open the n95 service manual and ask him kindly refer to that..

i suggest u to take another set of n95 st, either from ur fren or who and compare the result, cz that time when my gps antenna was not rightly connected, i couldn`t detect ANY satelites under clear sky and at times i get 1 satelite at full bar, but thats rarely

all right since u guys can get along well together, why don`t u ask him to check for u? for reference, download the service manual i posted, and refer to the gps section, if not mistaken , the gps antenna connects to two dots on the motherboard, and if u rather the service center to check for u, prepare to fork out at least rm 50 + for it, its a relatively simple task


for ur reference, the gps antenna is refered as 1.2 in the pic and connects to 1.3 ( not sure, but should be .. )

did u change ur lock code? default should be 12345

Rm 300? thats too expensive and cut throat, try Nokia Care Centres first, i got mine change for rm 150 and thats still expensive already



I assume u accidentally changed your line, try pressing # long to change it back, only model specific , some regions of n95 will change line and some, like mine, will switch to silent profile

Isit? maybe its the service charge that so expensive for original shops, the shop owner assured me its OEM when i purchase the casing

Hmm, can tell me what package included from the casing?

Try refering to the service board forum, there are several forummers here offer unlocking services

for debranding, u could just simply change the product code via NSS and reflash it to normal FW

keypad and buttons included?
