so standard shipping higher risk of getting taxed eh? i know my cousin got taxed for 6 items... unlucky!

Yes. LUCK & NASIB... That is all... I use both standard and DHL alternately all the time, never kena...

And standard one usually not that bad, always arrived within 10 days before. I think these delays may still have something to do with the recent holiday season.

I'm amazed with 1080i display on my 37" LCD TV already, really curious on how it will look on a 1080p full HD TV. tongue.gif

I read somewhere that of all LCD TV brands in the market, the LCD panel is provided by Sharp's factory. hmm.gif

HMM: HD DVD Should "Knock It Off" for Inevitable Blu-ray Victory

Home Media Magazine, the weekly industry magazine which alerts retailers and those inside the home media industry to news and releases, has posted a statement to the HD DVD Promotional Group: "Knock it off". Stating consumer confusion as the reason for lack of consumer adoption of high definition home media, magazine contributor Thomas K. Arnold has asked that HD DVD step down instead of delaying the inevitable Blu-ray victory.

With Warner Home Video dumping HD DVD, the format has the support of just two of the six major studios. It cannot win. At best, it can be a spoiler, but I'm hoping Toshiba, Universal and Paramount will take the high road and, for the good of the entire industry, bow out. Universal and Paramount, in particular, need to jump on the Blu-ray Disc bandwagon so we can go into the new year with a unified front and a unified mission: To educate consumers about the advantages of high-definition media and convince them the time to transition from standard DVD to Blu-ray is the day they bring that HDTV into their home.

depends on how far back you sitting...
dat day I saw 2 flat panel side by side, one is 1080p and the other is 854x480 SD panel plasma playing the same video signal, from 12-15ft away in the showroom, not much difference.... so if you go 1080p you should be sitting 1-1.5x screen distance to "see" what you paid for.. or else, if sitting at x2 distance, then those 1366x768p panels are usually good enuf..
*
May agree on that. So 1080p must get bigger one, then if sitting far the image should better than same size 720p TV. tongue.gif

Love this video:

So, for my 720p (1080i) 37" TV, if I compare to a 1080p 37" TV, I will only see the difference if I sit closer than 8 feet. The higher the resolution, the viewing distance must be shorter to see the difference.

I usually watch my movies around 7-8 feet away, so I guess my current TV is good enough. however, I may still consider a 1080p TV in the future. wink.gif

PS3 got Region code or not?? Can it play all region or just it designated region?

For Movies:

Blu-ray

REGION A
North America & Asia Pacific (including South East Asia).

More details:

user posted image

DVD

REGION 1
North America only

REGION 2
Japan, Middle-East including South Africa and Europe including Greenland

REGION 3
South East Asia including HK

REGION 4
Australasia and South America

More details:

So for DVD movies, yes it depends on where you buy the PS3. For Blu-ray, should be OK.

Try to avoid movies from regions other than the above.

But not all Blu-ray movies got region coding, usually only for new titles, when some other regions may still screening in cinemas.

DVDs almost all movies got region coding.

Assassination of Jesse James Gets Moved Up

user posted image

Warner Home Video has revealed that the DVD and Blu-ray release of 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' will now be released on February 5th instead of the initially announced date of February 26th. The move is likely to take advantage of the pre-Oscar buzz surrounding the film. No specs have changed at this time.

Finally, after more than 25 hours delay because of weather, my package arrived KL.

Seems like they could make the 4 days promise after all. My respect to DHL for their excellent service. notworthy.gif

Holy $hit, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds is THE Blu-ray to get for all you music loving audiophiles out there. PCM Stereo is already phenomenal, tune to Dolby Digital  5.1 640kbps and it is like a crisp studio recording, swittch it to Dolby TrueHD, and WATCH(yes, i do mean WATCH, not listen!) your soundscape transformed into a fullblown concert hall! If you have this title, or planning to get it, IMMEDIATELY skip to the part where Dave is singing on his kapok, while Tim strums his guitar solo on the song "Crush". I swear, i kid you not, you can implicitly and clearly hear the very twangs and swishes of Tim's deft fingers hitting those guitar solos so impressively, the audience in the concert hall, FREAKING cheers and thunders the LFE channel on the subs, you swear your room is shaking from the ovation! Your center channel speaker is filled with Dave's raspy, breathy voice, while the surround fronts switches madly during Tim's masterful solos. It doesnt let up , even until these two guys were basically facing off each other battling guitar riffs at each other, and when it came to the end, the standing ovation at the end, fills your entire speaker setup, you immediately can close your eyes and FEEL like you are there. You are freaking there, baby! And all this, is mother-effin' LIVE, right infront of you, and not prerecorded and mixed in some studio, makes it even more impressive. BUY THIS, and your speakers will thank you for it!

Disclaimer: Most probably will appeal to the crowd digging Dave's choice of music, balladic rock and slow tempo music, live with guitar plucks. Hiphoppers, rappers and the like need not apply.Guitar Hero lovers will, like what happened to me just now, immediately be entranced with what's happening onscreen and offscreen with your speakers. It is like your speakers are making love with your eardrums, and they are continuously orgasming each other.
*

I've heard about this. felt like getting one, and after reading your review there makes me want it more than ever. thumbup.gif

But I'm not familiar with Dave Matthews. Can you story a little bit about his songs? Maybe I've heard many times, but never knew that it was his songs, you know. Has his songs been in movies? hmm.gif

Anyway, I'll look for some mp3's to listen, if it's good, maybe I'll get his concert. tongue.gif

PS: kiathoong, nice sig there!! notworthy.gif tongue.gif

Fifth Element (Remastered), yes, excellent PQ &SQ. Don't get the old one, it was bad.
