i don't really understand...is that mean he's normal??

QUOTE(sangterap @ Jun 13 2008, 11:05 PM)
for dwarf breeds, normally 4 months onwards. If yours is a pure jersey wooly, then should be around there. 2.5 months is still too early for maturity. If LULI is a buck, it is quite normal for the MOJOJO to "naik bendera".....

OIC...sometime he likes to circulate around my foot...I've read that this is means his getting horny..is that right? i notice his mojo bangun after he circulate my foot...and then a day after that i saw he humped on the floor ( i saw his tail up and down) ...and when i picked him up mojo bangun already...what should i do? do i need to find GF for him brows.gif

QUOTE(sangterap @ Jun 13 2008, 11:22 PM)
it is normal because he is a buck (male rabbit). If male rabbit do not have mojo then something wrong.

Actually were you trying to say that he is starting to hump?

2.5 months should not be humping actually unless u got the wrong age.

Thanks sangterap...anyway i am a responsible person...don't worry...i really2 love my rabbit and always take a good care of him and make sure he's in a good and comfortable situation..i take good care of him just like i treat a human...take care just like anak sendiri (even still dont have anak tongue.gif )

QUOTE(sangterap @ Jun 13 2008, 11:41 PM)
There are few things you can look into when this happens:

1) Rabbits never get bored and will not die without sex, so you can still keep him alone.
2) However he may start to show sexual behaviors such as circling your feet, humping and spraying - then you may opt for neutering (mengembiri)
3) Think twice or more before breeding your rabbit - will you be able to handle the many baby rabbits if you get him a gf, are there genetic problems that may passed down and most of all, will you be able to find good homes for the baby rabbits.

The topic of breeding has been discussed for many times and please please please make sure you practice responsible pet ownership.

poor bunny...i'll pray for Proudfoot to get well soon..
QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jun 13 2008, 11:39 PM)
Keeping Proudfoot comfortable...

Proudfoot is currently paralyzed from whatever hit her (suspect major stroke).

Head keeps tilting to the left, so my father and I put a piece of cardboard underneath it to keep it comfy, and put a rug around its head to support the head and give it a comfy place to rest its head on (when it tilts down). Covered it with a piece of towel cos it tends to get rather cold during the night time here.

Warning: following picture is not cute. don't click if you're expecting cute bunnies. photo is of my "hospice bed" setup for my darling Proudfoot (it's a she).

i'm sorry to hear that...i know u must be very strong to stand the situation like this...i hope the 8 years of your nice memory with Proudfoot can become something for you to hold on...be strong...

QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jun 15 2008, 12:52 AM)
Proudfoot just left.

She went peacefully.

We just buried her in her favourite spot.

Thanks all for the support and advice.

I'll miss Proudfoot terribly.

She brought so much joy to the family, with her antics and cheekiness. She was an expressive rabbit, always doing the binky when she was happy, digging my garden up, sneaking into the house to run away with a fresh veggie from the kitchen and always sitting next to her best friend Sprinkles in the garden, playing together, chasing each other, grooming each other, rubbing each other's nose and all. She was my friend when I was sick and depressed and she knew how to comfort me when I'm down, and play when I'm happy, she knew me.

I guess in a way... her suffering wasn't for long.

sad.gif

Bye, Proudfoot.

It was a good 8 years.

Luli eat unlimited pallets & alfalfa hay

pallets contains
Crude protein = 17%min
crude fat = 2%min
Crude Fibre = 20%max
Moisture 13%max
Phosphorus = 0.5% min
Calcium = 0.8-1.5%

alfalfa hay contains
Crude protein = 15%min
crude fat = 1%min
Crude Fibre = 30%max

both bought from Beh&Yo shop...

Is my rabbit diet consider ok? do i need to cut down on anything?

i also gave him papaya tablet from oxbow product one tablet a day...

LULI already get his litter training. He poo and pee using litter tray but sometimes he also poo outside but not for pee....

LULI have soft stools everyday...

QUOTE(11Jan @ Jun 15 2008, 07:58 PM)
When a rabbit produces excess soft stool (cecals), the first thing to do is to examine its diet. A diet high in protein is usually the cause of excess cecals (barring any health problems).

What kind of pellets is Luli eating? Is it alfalfa-based pellets? Are you feeding Luli alfalfa hay as well?

Generally, it is recommended to feed baby rabbits with alfalfa-based pellets and alfalfa hay, as alfalfa is high in protein and a baby rabbit needs protein for growth and to strengthen its bones.

But some baby rabbits are sensitive to too much protein. In this case, you can replace alfalfa hay with timothy hay and see if there's improvements (hay is the most important part of a rabbit's diet and the fiber in hay helps to ensure a healthy digestive system).

If after switching to timothy hay, Luli still has excess cecals, cut down on alfalfa based pellets and switch him over to timothy based pellets slowly (i.e. if now he is eating 100% alfalfa pellets, give him 75% alfalfa and 25% timothy pellets, and slowly increase timothy pellets while decreasing alfalfa pellets). Changes to a rabbit's diet must be done slowly to allow time for its digestive tract to adjust to the change.

i've stop the papaya tablet once but still the same.seems no change..i just start giving back the tablet 2 weeks ago...is it my rabbit have GIT problem? or i need to start giving him timothy hay...can u suggest me any type of timothy hay should i give? i've been to vet once for this problem...the doc told me that its normal and vet gave me medicine name "probiotic" for the digestive..but the soft stool still the same...so i thought its normal...

QUOTE(11Jan @ Jun 15 2008, 09:23 PM)
you need to stop giving papaya tablets to luli. treats & vege should be given AFTER the rabbit is 3mths old. even then, vege & treats have to be introduced SLOWLY. treats are high in sugar which is very bad for rabbits if given in excess, and to give papaya tablets daily, that is just too much sugar for him. i only give my rabbits 1 tablet a week, and they are already adults.

cut out all treats and see if he still has excess cecals.

the vet gave mu probiotic in tablet form (like human tablet)...i need to open the tablet cover and dilute in glucose that provided and give to rabbit using syringe...

yeah i have read also too early separate from mother can also cause the prob from this website...

http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html

do i need to fine BENEBAC to give to him?

QUOTE(sangterap @ Jun 15 2008, 10:21 PM)
Your vet is rabbit savvy. Probiotics is good particularly the one by the name of BENEBAC. It is a gel like probiotics that can be given to the rabbit. I normally swipe a little on baby rabbits' mouth. They will freak out at first but soon lap em up.

probiotics basically helps with striking a balance in the stomach between good and bad bacteria.

Hope she stop those excessive cecal soon. Through my research, it is quite common for rabbits that has left their mums too early to have this problem. Normally between 6 to 8 weeks the baby rabbit will eat the cecal from their mums. And for those separated from their mums earlier, this phase of their lives are taken away. So, they find it a little difficult to strike a balance in the stomach on their own.

Added on June 15, 2008, 10:47 pmLuli eat a lot of pallet but very little of hay...so now i think i need to stop giving him pallet..from what i know this is the only way to force him to eat hay...if i gave both he will surely choose pallet...thanks everybody... i will try to change the diet, stop papaya tablet and start giving timothy hay..

QUOTE(11Jan @ Jun 15 2008, 10:34 PM)
stop the papaya tablets, and switch to timothy hay. doesn't matter what brand, as long as the hay is green and fresh, dont choose those which are yellow or brown.

does luli eat a lot of hay? if he is not, and he seems to prefer to eat pellets more than hay, then you may need to cut down on the amount of pellets which you are feeding him, to encourage him to eat more hay

Do you mean a drop or 2 for bebebac ? yeah he just two and half month old..very very young..but starting to horny already..i think the pet shop gave me the wrong age...or maybe he mature fast biggrin.gif

QUOTE(sangterap @ Jun 15 2008, 10:47 PM)
i am no vet but experience tells me benebac is the trusted probiotics for rabbit. bear in mind ur rabbit is still quite young, so give just a drop or 2 is enough. if need be increase over time.
