Question time!

I saw the alfalfa and timothy hay sold in Pets Wonderland, Midvalley Megamall retailing for rm56 per pack. Is that expensive? how much do u guys got yours from and where?

Thanks in advance, i'll be in KL this weekend..staying at Cititel.

Is not expensive, if you have member card then you can get some discount for it too... I usually get from them if I can't find Kool Bunny Timothy Hay in my local pet shop...

The one you saw in the Pet Wonderland is Alfafa King brand. For Timothy hay big pack weight 4 lbs about 1.8kg and Kool Bunny is about 1kg cost RM 22 (before discount) and I normally buy 2 packs... so is about the same cost in my opinion...

I use what I have mentioned earlier... only that 2 brands... no need to stick to a particular brand just see whether the hay is fresh or not then should be fine... as long as no dust inside, not too much yellowish (like want to die), balance of leaf and stem (forgot got one brand do not have much stem for bunny to gnaw...)

@snoopy92, you need to spend a lot of time to make sure your current bunny bond with the new bunny... because when you introduce new member to the family then the rank will be an issue. Your current bunny might want to dominate your new bunny to show that he/she is in-charge... you as owner will need to make sure the bonding process is successful... at first slowly introduce them in a different cage then only let your current bunny out to get to know the new bunny in the cage from outside and vice versa... then slowly put closer and closer until they in the same play area where you watch them like a hawk for some time... when they fight you have to stop it, and you have to start the bonding again... is sounds hard but in fact it will be statisfying if you have achieve what you want.... is your current bunny spayed? are you planning to spay them both if not?

you can find much more information in the first page... smile.gif

probably can try to gather all the owner and go to the particular shop and let them know the preferred brand to be available in the shop....

sometimes the shop owner also not aware these brand as they are not offered by their distributor.... there is a time i asked petsmore why they didn't restock the kool bunny hay and the staff told me that they sell whatever distributor gave to them... i was like *speechless*

told them to call me when woody pet restock, they never did! i went there and check out myself and found the stock is there... asked them why no call me then they said the girl that handle might forgot about it... i was like *speechless*

they don't even keep a log to call customer back let alone think for the animal's sake... in general, they all just want quantity of goods sold and not quality....

The fact is, rabbits do not feel lonely like how us human perceives. Most of the time it is us that feel lonely for them.

That is so true... I'm having only 1 rabbit for almost 3 years and sometimes I do feel lonely for him... just give him enough attention and it'll be fine smile.gif

wah, a few months is a long way.
hopefully they will fast fast learn. ~(happy.gif~)
*
It's easy to toilet trained them, you just have to observe their favourite spot of pee and poo... after you found the spot you put the tray there and you put the hay and water bottle beside the tray located... they will eat and drink there and they will learn to do their business there... most of the time they eat and poo at the same time so is easy to train them...

adriel_heresy, thank you for spending your time in reading the first post! rclxms.gif yes, please provide unlimited hay and water for your bunnies... they will eat and drink when they need to... so you don't need to worry when they go hungry... they mostly eat at night and early morning... afternoon is their sleeping time rolleyes.gif

Cheers!

For new owner or planning to get a pet rabbit, please do some research (at least a little knowledge) before you get the rabbit.

Best place to start off is in this thread, I know it's too many pages to go through but first page of the post have sufficient information to get you started... It's easy to ask here and wait for answers, why not spend some time just go through the list there while waiting for answers?

By the way, I have updated the new shop, online shop in the list at the first page for easy reference smile.gif

EDIT: Try not to put so much thought about the breed of rabbit, get to know how to handle them first would be good idea...

Cheers!

pellets serve as supplement and fortified to nutrient that bunny cannot get from hay... pellet can consider secondary diet that goes along with hay... so you don't need to feed a lot but small portion a day should be fine smile.gif

@eelaine, rabbit is not easy to die if you know how to take care of them properly... your daughter is too young to take care of the rabbit so please make sure you can commit your time to make sure the rabbit have correct diet, periodically visit to the vet and cleaning up their cage...

try not to get long fur rabbit such as anggora as they will molt and their fur will be around your household... thus you need to groom them and send them for trimming... elder people tends to discourage keeping furry pets as it's bad for the kids...

please consider my 2 cents pointers...
