Hey guys, as i've said before, my kits are up for adoption, nicoty has updated two of them, and now i'm gonna let one more of them to be adopted, these are the pics of the beautiful kit! It's brownish plus black inner fur. the fur is short and tidy but there are some areas where the fur are longer. However, I would be charging a small fee for the food and maintenence of the kits. feel free to contact me if u're interested!
![]() oh yea, there's one more thing, i was wondering since the rabbit thread is having so many members and all, maybe we could come out with a LYN rabbit thread t-shirt or something, just something to think about This post has been edited by wchui22061985: Mar 15 2008, 04:59 PM |

QUOTE(inexsis @ Mar 15 2008, 06:23 PM) how much ? i'm estimating around RM35 but i have to make sure the adopter is well capable of taking care of the kit n the environment is suitable. gud idea man.....then if there's any function happening for pets....all rabbits thread people can recognize each other with these t-shirt for the t-shirt, maybe we can print it out then come out for gathering one day. we take a whole "family" photo of the members of this thread with the rabbits! it'll b so cool! QUOTE(sangterap @ Apr 2 2008, 10:25 AM) What show? Normally when you talk about show, it should be like the dog/cat shows we have here. But to think on another level, dog/cat shows involve dogs/cats with pedigree and that means all are purebreds. So, you can just ask yourself, do you normally see pure bred rabbits around? The answer is sadly no. 100% agree with what you said. I've been to several pets exhibition or pets show, sometimes it really annoys me when what you see in these events are majority dogs, cats and aquatic business then a really really minority of other pets, like rabbits, chinchillas, sugar gliders and ferrets. For other exotic pets, can't really be blamed cos they are quite pricey at a certain standard. But rabbits are really much more cheaper and easier to take care. Although I have a few mixed breed rabbits myself, but I do hope that the quality and standard of pure breed rabbits can be increased in Malaysia. Like dogs and cats, the quality of rabbits could be measured based on their appearance, structure, fur etc. However, there's no such organization to do so, like MKA for dogs. There are so many breeds of rabbits recognize by rabbit clubs overseas but most of the rabbits we have here are locally mixed variety. How nice it would be if there are people who start specializing in each of those breeds. Then we can start having show. At the moment we are ready to have shows only for fancy judgments because there are no standard conformations to look out for. Things like best dressed rabbit or rabbits that can do tricks are just some of the things we can "award" a rabbit for. As far as whether the rabbit achieve certain standards laid down like ear placements, type and overall body structure, fur quality and many other official standards cannot be taken into consideration. I know many people just love their pets as they are and I respect that. But I really hope that more take the initiatives to work on purebreds so that we can truly bring the variety of rabbits in our country to a higher level. And what saddens me the most is when mix breedings are done. There is no consideration for quality/standard and what is being contributed in the long run in mind. I could accept that you get sub-standard quality to begin and slowly work towards a certain quality. But sadly, most are "buta" breedings. That is just my 2 cents. No intention to offend. IMHO it would be good for bunny future in Malaysia. And I am not asking you to discard your rabbits now and work on a breed. Normal rabbits make great pets too but just to strike some awareness so that instead of creating more pet quality, we should strive to add more show quality pets in our country. With that, more people will come to appreciate keeping rabbits as pets and in the long run, pet shops would be force to cater for our needs. If you notice now, the market is filled with lousy rabbit food and etc. When will our rabbit community start enjoying good stuff? They deserve better treatments than cats and dogs if not treated the same way. As for now, i think only Beh has pure breed netherland dwarfs and holland lops as he had imported them and I can fully trust him if he says those are pure breeds. As for the rest, like in pets store, no offense, but i don't really trust them to be pure breeds. I can only see a breed name and a high price, but i don't really see a pure breed rabbit. Can you believe this? I've seen a huge rabbit (almost like Rex size) yet it states dwarf. Maybe it's mixed or something, but it doesn't state there. As we have a bunch of rabbit lovers in this thread, maybe we could get together and form a group or something to help the situation? This post has been edited by wchui22061985: Apr 6 2008, 10:33 PM |

With the different conditions in Malaysia, like hot weather and high humidity, I suspect quality of even pure breeds in Malaysia would be different with those in western countries, especially their fur coats. If we could really standardize a certain breed that could only be bred in Malaysia, maybe we've got something here... But if it's possible, i think it's better if we start from those that are pure breed first. First we have to see what kind of differences are there if we compare a pure breed that were bred in Malaysia with ones in western countries. If there are any differences, we could start from there i suppose

QUOTE(adriel_heresy @ Apr 16 2008, 03:44 PM) my rabbits never like me to touch them. hehe same for mine also. each time i try to get close to my rabbits, they sure run away. unless they know got food ler... so usually i let them out, they will run on their own. it's definitely not advisable to catch them by their ears, it would cause dislocation of their ears. i usually do it like u. slid your hand on their abdomen, then use another hand to support their hind legs. if you want to hold them longer, just put them towards your chest. it would let them have a sense of security they will escape whenever i wan to touch them. so i just let them play on their own. by the way, how do you guy catch the rabbits? on the ears? the neck like how you catch the kitty ? or how? i catch my rabbit by slidding my hands under their abdomen and slowly lift them. can not lift to high or they will tremble in fear. but then like to struggle and run when you hold them. so have to do it fast. just curious the rite way to handle them. |

my rabbit used to bite me as well, like an enemy. but it takes time. maybe at the beginning, don't really force itself to u. sometimes when u feed it, maybe u can try attracting it to u, then feeding it by hand. i used to do that, then later, it kind of get used to my smell and all that. then it'll be friendly.
