This is the second time the clutch jammed when I wanna change gear when going up the hill..

The 1st time, I was in gear 3, then I pressed the clutch n wanna switch to second gear, but the clutch jammed, the clutch got no feeling at all, I couldn't switch any gear, once I force it to 1st gear, the engine died, it is just like I din't press the clutch, so I turn off the engine n turn on again, then the clutch becomes normal again, but the clutch felt like much lighter than b4 jammed, I approached my foremen, I told him dat my clutch jammed on half way going up hill while changing gear, n the clucth felt much lighter than b4, so he tested drive my car to checked if the clutch got any problem or not, after checking, he said nothing wrong n he can do nothing. Ok fine, this happened to me 4 months ago.

Then second time, which is today, I went to Genting again, this time was very serious, becoz the clutch totally jammed while I wanna change gear on the slope, I turn on n off the engine for many times, the clutch still jammed, so after 30 mins of trying to turn off n on the engine, I try switching the gear when the engine is off, it is normal dat we can switch gear without stepping the clutch when the engine is off, so I played the gear for severel round, i kept on stepping the clutch while playing with the gear, then the clutch suddenly released n got "feel" again, then i start the engine n switch to 1st gear, very luckily, the cluctch works again, PHEW.... n again, the clutch feel much lighter after dat....

So wat is the problem actually? Gear box? Clutch? Fly wheel?

I suspect dat my gear box got problem too, becoz when i switch to gear 3, there must be some sound like i din't step the clutch...

Anyone can help since my foreman cannot tell what's the problem... rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

My car is SGTI........

Check your clutch pump if it's using a hydraulic system or the cable for freeplay and overall condition. Might be a good idea to take out the clutch pack for inspection too.

So r u asking me to check the whole clutch system? blush.gif

things to check....
clutch pump and slave
pressure plate
clutch bearing
*
clutch pump i heard b4, slave? I dun think my foremen will understand this, how to pronounce it in cantonese? "Gui Lei"??? -.-"

Send to maddriver garage la....

Mmmm... This is a good suggestion....

The clutch has nothing to do with the engine they work independently.
In neutral clutch is Engage, once engine is running gear box will all spin together and when clutch is disengage, Fork push on bearing push and bearing push on pressure plate will seperate clutch plate from Fly Wheel, hence gearbox rotation is slow down.
If using hydraulic clutch pump, service the clutch masterpump, clutch pump and change the fluid it could be overheated hyraulic fluid or better remove gearbox to change all clutch assemblies.
*
Overheat is defne as how? After the second police station, I only use second gear, n sometimes change to third gear as I can hear that the second gear has begun to "ask for help" as I pulled the gear 2 until 6k rpm for quite a long time....

It happened suddenly and without notice and u cant engage any gear. the clutch pedal also feels very light. maybe its time to change ur clutch plate?

Standard clutch replacement kit only comes with flywheel & clutch plate only. Some would include oil seals, some don't.
*
Can this problem be fixed by changing clutch?

QUOTE(rcracer @ Jan 10 2008, 04:17 PM)
Yes i suggest that, you don't want to kill your gearbox because you didn't bother to get it checked properly. If your clutch plate overheated usually you'll get a strong burning smell and maybe smoke as well, but it won't overheat if it's not slipping.

No everything comes separate, there isn't a fixed kit so to say, you can buy each and every item individually.
Not flywheel but clutch cover.
*
No burning smell at all, everything is normal, just dat the clutch suddenly jammed.

sweat.gif I love manual, thx for ur suggection...

QUOTE(maddriver @ Jan 10 2008, 07:39 PM)
a complete clutch kit, that is, all the parts that will be bolted on the flywheel are the pressure plate and the friction disc. the clutch bearing is attached on the imput shaft of the gearbox. the clutch master pump is that thing that u put the clutch pump fluid in. it's on the firewall of the engine bay. the clutch slave is that thing on the outside of the gearbox. btw, how are the pads?
*
Wow, so do u know what is my problem now, can fix or not?

The pads r EXCELLENT, 1st time went to Genting with ur pads, much better than my previous brake pad. thumbup.gif

it only happen during upill? how about downhill or normal road? is it because of clutch's fluid too low? so that's why when go uphill, it's like sometime fuel indicator showing fuel empty when go uphill when fuel tank level is low...
*
Yeah, only happen on up hill, 2 times oso occured while going up genting...
