Sometimes if it's too big it's just ugly. Oh well, I'm leaning more towards getting it anyhow. Just need to see an actual fabrication and not just a render (for USD$60 bucks, it damn well better be top-quality!)

*Imagines answering a phone call by crouching down, tapping finger to ear, and responding "This is Snake."* tongue.gif

I'm trying to get my paws on a copy of the Metal Gear Solid Saga Vol 2 dvd. The one with the beta invite. I need a refresher on the whole story before MGS4! The story's too convoluted. And hopefully, I'll get it in time for the beta. Missed my chance this morning for the free code!  doh.gif

Just curious: Were they giving out the beta codes somewhere (besides via MGS Saga)? I may have missed that info; care to enlighten me?

Go to PlayStation Blog...There a link there on the latest MGS4 post to get the list...it's EXTREMELY limited tho...

Oh I see. Must've missed that news. It's okay though, I've already got MGS Saga (and a pre-order for the Ltd Ed) with my friend. But she's asleep now...will probably ask her to pass me the code tomorrow. smile.gif

Wireless Metal Gear Headset hmm.gif

"- Large size over the ear speaker (this is good for hygene as well as comfort) it means there is no earbud that you need to stick in your ear; instead a soft round foam / speaker cushion sits over your ear; it's comfortable to wear on either left or right ear with the sturdy silicone ear loop."

Could it be that the fake headset is real after all o_O
*
Real = awesome.

Large size? Goddammit... doh.gif

Right Ear or Left ear: Really? 'Cause from the renders, it looks pretty much like it was designed to be worn on the right ear...unless you don't mind your cool MGS4 logo upside down.

Enthusiasm...fading...skepticism.....taking over...!

Ya, Before the game launch, they're already pissing all their fans off. Quite stupid I think.

Those with valid keys? Sure.

Those via backdoor method? No sympathy from me there.

Yeah regardless of download method, the lack of access to konami ID is screwing everyone over. vmad.gif

Finally able to register my konami id. I followed these instructions on the internet:

I figured out a work-around that seems to work, but you have to be fast and have a bit of patience.

Getting past the first couple of screens very quickly got to be easier (with lots of practice)... but the long registration form is what killed me each time.

So, here is what seems to work:.....

Dude. MUCH PROPS to you. notworthy.gif

Konami needs to buy some better servers and re-think their whole 2-ID strategy. That was a pain in the ass...

QUOTE(derred @ Apr 19 2008, 07:32 AM)
guys,

I am going back to Malaysia when MGS 4 will be launched. It's there anywhere I could pre-order a copy of MGS 4  that I can get in Malaysia (any price would do).

This makes me hesitate on either to buy PS 3 @ Malaysia or in the US. Any suggestion or solution guys?

sorry I am new here in this thread but not in LYT forum. Also been MGS fan since day 1 but never really got the time to express it in forum (same goes with Liverpool blah blah blah u got me wink.gif )

since MGS is coming this June and I will not be at my place which sucks (will be much easier if I could pre-order at newegg or game-stop) but I have no clue where to pre-order in Malaysia.

Thank you in advance nice meeting u guys.

Here's my two cents: Try to find a 60GB (if possible) or 80GB model from either Gamestop or EB Games. If money's a concern, you can always try a used one. Then, buy used copies of any PS2 game that you really, REALLY love (which by your indication, this would include the MGS Essential Collection).

Then, as much of a pain in the ass it may turn out to be, bring them back with you.

IMHO, unless you speak Japanese, a US console with backwards-compatibility is the ultimate way to go. If you don't prefer to have a single-machine that can do it all, then by all means, buy a PS3 here in M'sia (probably Asia regioned) and pickup a cheap PS2 as well. But if you've been in the States for any reasonable amount/length of time and own any PS2 games or DVDs, you will never regret bringing a US console back.

MGS4: Unless you're dying for the Ltd Edition, I'm sure MGS4 will be readily available here in M'sia. Plenty of reputable gameshops locally that you can pre-order from. If not, there's still always Play-Asia.

Do you guys know if the update download can be paused and/or resumed at a later date?
Or do you start from scratch if cancelled?

Thank you for the reply I really appreciate that. I don't quite understand when you said a single-machine can do it all if buy in Malaysia, care to share about that?

I have all MGS series from Metal Gear Solid Snake and stuff in iphone and all others for ps and ps2. The only I haven't play is the one on gamecube (remake of MGS 1; forget it's title). I know the MGS 4 ps3 console is coming out here but there is no way I could own one especially if I am not here to get in line sad.gif

And Play-Asia.. heard of it before but where? hmm.. is it a reliable source?

If there is no problem getting one copy then I definitely going to buy ps3 since GTA4 is coming out. But the one-million question is; where should I buy it (US or Malaysia?). Trust me this is one hard decision to make.
*
Single Machine: What I meant was, if you have authentic US/NTSC PS2 games and DVDs in your collection, buy a US 60/80GB PS3. One machine to play PS3 & PS2 games, upscale DVDs.

If you don't, then come back to Malaysia and buy an Asia reg. PS3. To satisfy your PS2/ NTSC DVD needs, you'll have to buy a PS2 as well (hence, more than 1 machine).

MGS4 & GTA4: Again, if you're just looking to get the game (and not the Special editions) then I believe there will be plenty of retailers here in Malaysia that will carry it once you get back. Or you can try Play-Asia.com (very reliable as most forumers here would agree).

thanks for letting me know that. I dont think I will have problem getting the US version ps3 but in the long run, who knows getting asian version would benefit me more..
*
Personally, I'd go with a US machine. Because I have a decent amount of DVDs & games I brought back with me, I too found out the hard way that even though my 60gb has backward-compatibility it was a JP machine and thus not able to play R1 DVDs and PS2 games.

So eventually, through some effort, I managed to bring in an 80gb one. I prefer to have a single machine that can play my PS3 games/ BluRays as well as upscale my PS2 ones and DVDs. For me a PS3 isn't as worth it if it's without BC (that's just my opinion).

Back to topic: So who else is all set for MGO Beta on Monday?! I hope our crappy ISP won't eff things up for others and skew/ruin the beta test data...

I surely will open it to test if it's work or not (for my part of coz) but u know open-package item doesn't cost much, at least from what I know.

and never ever had intention of selling one either. I think custom u don't need to pay if it's personal belongings.

Thanks to all replies, hmm what's BC (do u mean blu-ray). Yup I think I will go with the US machine thank you guys appreciate it. I will let you guys know the update if I have any (maybe I could join if you guys doing some activities together or what not hehe).

You got to try bang in if you are lucky.

Muchi was 1 of the lucky guy.

I don't know if they really do block foreign IPs, I managed to get mine on Friday Saturday morning. It really is a gamble at this point.

Man, I really hope they don't screen IPs when it comes to actually connecting to their servers. Cause if they do, we're all f**ked.

For the patch download, let's say I download it until 10% then I stop it. Will it continue from 10% when the next time I continue downloading?

I asked this very question a coupla pages back.

Answer: Did you choose the P2P option? If so, then yes.

If not, then...choose the P2P option. tongue.gif
