my powerbookG4 slot loading optical drive ... is not working....

problem as follow ... inserted any form of CD ... it will eject out about 20 seconds ...

so .. i guess it is a "hardware" problem....

had check with epic paviliion ,,,and advice to hand it in for a checkup and most likely change "sparepart"

and guess what ... ?? was told it is going to cost somewhere near thousand ringgit for this repair ....

any one care to share share about this matter ...

and please reply with advice as what should i do ....!!!

thank you ,, kam sia ...terima kasih ...

if you can find a same model drive on eBay or something, then you'll only be charged labour fees.

if not, then why not get an external DVD burner? only RM400 or so for dual-layer + FireWire.

depends on your budget... if low budget justs head for those LG, Liteon, Imation USB based external DVDs...

firewire supported is very little and more expensive...

anyways... all are third party burners and will render the OS disk utility disc burning wizard useless...
