not only to the extend of making friends and understand their cultures. i even learned their languages by hard. 3 chinese dialects, english, 3 malay localized dialects, indonesian, kadazan dusun, and simple indian language. even though i am growing up in kl.
yet, so far, i don't see anything wrong with chinese girls.
most of your points are applied to other races as well. it's even!
we can't expect those chinese girls to be conservative or being friendly.
we have to respect them for who and what they are.
and we ourselves have to adapt or counter the situations. like;
1. they being lcly, i will be even lcly. coz i've had my pride and dignity.
2. they can't cook, it's ok, i already learn the art of cooking nice foods from mom.
3. being mercenary and materialistic. never mind, i'll work smarter and earn more money so that i can flash but not overspend my hard earn $$$ 
btw, i used to start a conversation with those so called lcly looking girls and heck, they are friendlier than my ah lian neighbour. maybe coz' i never give her a damn, anyway

Question is, HOW do you know Malaysian Chinese girls (or anyone else) is materialistic if you don't know them well or date them?
