well my suggestion is 3870 for the better cooler design..... since u using it as torrent rig so i assume 24/7 is a minimal requirement, a GC run cooler is better for pc and not to mention ur room too.......

since you said temp would be an issue go for 3870 if want to play game then oc it when gaming performance comparable with 8800gt
