Guys, i'm about to upgrade my torrent PC graphic card.

Before this, it's on 2900XT.
Since it's a Torrent PC, you know it's on 24/7/365, which you also know how hot is a 2900XT.

This torrent PC will be using only one card.

This PC is not for media purposes, it's only made for torrent and gaming purposes for my lil brother's.
It's not made for watching videos or any other types of media.

I've heard that 8800GT is better on gaming compared to 3870 while 3870 is better on videos compared to 8800GT.

Okay, since this PC will only be used for Gaming & Torrent, which way should i go?
Nvidia 8800GT or ATI 3870?

i say leave that PC the way it is....and let it be a gaming rig for ur lil bro...

the budget for the GC (RM8-900) can get u a cheap full set PC which u can use only for torrents (or HTPC if u like)...and these PC will most likely consume much less power than ur current torrent rig.

Err bro, the 2900XT has already been sold and now there's no graphic card inside.

That's why i've opened this topic asking for which way should i go.

Yes he does.
He's playing Crysis, Supreme Commander, HellGate London and some other graphic demanding games.

Seriously if i were to go for 3850 or 8600, i would be hell of an evil brother to downgrade from 2900XT to those cards.

Not really high lar, only around 1280X1024 but AA is a must.

My lil' brother is a great gamer, i build the whole system just for him.
I use my own money, i didn't just build it only for Torrent. I also build it for my little brothers to play the latest games.

ahhh then 8800GT is great!

anyway i've used 2900XT and 8800GT, i find 8800GT slower.

on the plus side, it's less hungry on power and less hot. looks shorter (smaller) too.

IQ for both...but seriously not by much. Most people hardly notice it.

oh wait. he's referring to IQ or performance or what? i was referring to gaming performance.

as for IQ - i always find my desktop looks nicer when using ATI cards.
