i was wondering. i bought my fren a system, and he said its too slow. since the mobo is a Gigabyte 965P-DS3, can i use the current E4000 series C2Ds? i know that the 1333mhz C2Ds are out of question cuz i bought it last year, so is there any chance that the new E4000 series can work with the board?

try to understand what ur friend mean by too slow. simply change the hardware won't help you to solve the problem.

might be software problems like drivers, viruses or something. not necessarily hardware problem. pentium D can cater normal usage and some gaming if used properly with proper hardwares and drivers.

If you'd decided to get a new processor for your friend's system, then perhaps you should log on to Gigabyte website and check out the processor compatibility with the mentioned motherboard. This way you wouldn't be making any mistake when selecting your processor.

TS you should have listed out your friend's rig spec..if ur mobo is a rev 1.0, 2.0 it will never support 1333 MHz of FSB but if it is a rev3.3..with a BIOS update..1333MHz FSB can bes supported

Please post the specs of your friends rig so that we can help you with more detail and like someone said it could be a virus that is causing lagginess. You so good ah? Buy a computer for friend but never offer to buy us any?

Yes, website stated can support 1333Mhz. BUT you need to tweak before plug and play the 1333Mhz based processor. Troublesome.
So if you want to go for E4600, no problem at all.
