I think i'm just like ma43q, currently i stick to just a few brands of racquets like Yonex mostly.
Other funny brands just doesn't sound like a badminton racquet at all.

Hehe, that shop is getting famous ehh?
If i'm not mistaken, the name of the shop is Chiang Siah Store. The boss is called Tan. I used to buy racquets at a great price. Lots of freebies too. If any of guys who does not have a group to play with or want to have a more competitive game, ask him and see if you can join his group. I played with his group on Thursdays and Saturdays but not anymore due to work and timing. You'll definitely get to meet good players in his group. |

All the more you should change your thinking. Don't be shy and look the other way.
You should play with better players to improve. That's how i improved my strokes when i play with better players. His group of players give constructive ideas on how to improve your game. You should join if you want to learn and pick up skills. |

QUOTE(skymade @ Apr 24 2005, 01:04 PM) Hi all, I would like to get a new racquet + string. My budget is around rm150 - rm220. I can't be too sure of the model of the racquet but ProAce would do you good. Get any of those Titanium Racquets with Flat Head. If you're the power player, get them to string the racquet at 25lbs. About the strings, you can try BG 66 or Ti-88.I like to play offensive style in double, thus getting chance to smashes is my primary task. Any recommendation of the racquet & string which would most suitable for my playing style? Could pls specify what the tension of the sring too which will best for me, 25++lbs? I would prefer a Yonex. But any other brands might be consider as well. Thanks in advance. I think someone else would be able to explain the strings to you more comprehensively. |

Power smash does not depend on string and racquet alone.
If you have a power setup but having weak wrist power will not bring the racquet's full potential. So train your wrist too!!!! |

QUOTE(7chai @ Apr 27 2005, 04:41 PM) myhat> hehe... That's the reason why it's called Nano Speed, cos it takes a much faster time to swing when the racquet is very light. The shop owner let me exprience the Nano Speed8000, seriously is damn cool. i do a swing with da racquet, the feeling is like u swinging a plastic bag in your hand. Light is good but I personally will not get such a racquet cos it hinders my smashing. To me, I want power in my smashes! |

RM800++ ain't my type of price for a racquet. I would not personally splash that much for a racquet.
My budget would be more likely in the RM200-RM300 region. I'm not a professional badminton player... |

QUOTE(darkwolfie @ May 20 2005, 04:34 PM) Light racquets gives you more mobility in set plays. Meaning, you can do flicks faster and your wrist turns without less resistance. These type of racquets are mainly for singles play.If you have a strong wrist, either heavy/light racquet would work. I prefer racquets that are not so light and not so heavy. That way, I can generate enough power for my smashes and light enough to do tricky flicks and not backfire. |

Not necessarily Yonex. There are other brands like ProAce and Fleet that provides medium weighted racquet just like Yonex's.
Just my 2 cents. I'm using Fleet and ProAce and I think they're equally good. |

QUOTE(rayanne @ Sep 29 2005, 08:26 AM) Hi all, It's good to see female playing badminton too. am a quite lazy lady but my heard like to play some sport for exercise e.g badminton with my friends!! [healthy & slim purpose] Where do you guys usually play around? for me: -Tmn Megah -Puchong -Desa Petaling -Sri Petaling like RM12-15/- an hour or RM25/- for 2 and a half hours! I hope i own a court, honestly My racket is Carbonex25SP , i wonder is this a good racket? What model of ur current racket? cost? or just take a chap-ba-lang racket and hit it I usually play in Puchong and Old Klang Road (Community Hall with 2 courts). Ever since work picked up, i'm only restricted to playing once a week. I'm not sure abt the court rentals but i think it's cheap. I have 2 Fleet racquets now and planning to invest in a good racquet. Both my Fleet racquets only cost me RM160 (inclusive of bag, strings, and grips). Carbonex 25SP is a good racquet. If i'm not mistaken, it's quite heavy right? |
