Do not do pet smuggling illegally.... this is not the place to discuss. You have to put in the cargo area as it is the rules.... there are reasons as to why animals should be in the cargo area.....

Yes, they can survive the flight. I have brought back 4 dwarf hamsters from KL to Labuan a few years back, and the flight is about 3 hours plus minus (Check in, luggage collecting, etc). Just make sure that their cage is clean and they have adequate food and water. They will put the hamsters in a specially oxygenated chamber thing in the cargo area, so they have a continuous supply of oxygen, much like in the cabin. They just don't allow pets or animals of any kind into the cabin because of hygiene purposes obviously. I think they do charge insurance or as excess baggage if checking in your baggage and hamsters exceed the weight limit, I don't remember.

Upon arrival they seem healthy and happy to see me though laugh.gif

I guess the main concern is the duration of the flight, from where to where?

The duration of the flight doesn't really matter IMO, as long as the hamsters are kept in the "oxygen pocket", it's similar to the cabin where the people are sitting, as in there's constant recirculation of oxygen so the hamsters will be fine. Think of it as this way- in the cargo section there is a "cabin" used for transporting pets/animals which is just like the human cabin, minus the chairs and stewards/stewardesses. If a human can survive in the cabin for a few hours worth of flight, so can the hamsters because it's technically the same.

If not mistaken, if want to export or import live stock need permit. Even though from KL to Sabah.

pls follow the rules... nvr bring any unthorized life creatures on to the plane, u have to understand that, plane is not like bus, u can stop while emergency... bear in mind that, and dun b the irresponsible person whose bring the "risk" to other passenger!

Yes, you do need a permit from a Jabatan... forgot what already but it was in Cheras. You not only need a permit from the place you are bringing it from (e.g. KL) but also from the place you are bringing it to (e.g. Sabah). Once you have them you can check in your hamsters.

Not sure about dogs though, but these are from my experience bringing back my pet hamsters last time laugh.gif

you will need a permit even if you are bringing the hamsters back for a holiday.
these controls have been put in place to ensure that the the animals native to sabah are not exposed to outside diseases etc. this applies to plants as well.
please adher by the set rules.

For those who wonder why pets are not allowed on a plane aside from cargo area, its actually dangerous. Imagine if a hamser escapes and chews off some wire in the plane, its bye bye to all the passengers then.

Instead of posting repeatedly here, you could have gone and googled it, no? As much as we would like to help, we're not online 24-7 whistling.gif

i think we need to understand that during flight cabin is pressurised in order for us to breath in high altitude. Thus, there is high possibility of illness spreading to all passengers in an enclosed space.

Our lovely pets are adorable but we can't see whether are they caring any disease, even human beings. Hopefully, we think for our own safety as well as others onboard.
