Just to share how I paid my contractor, I paid 20% as down-payment and my aunt paid 35% for down-payment. (I paid less for deposit because my renovation cost is substantially less)

After the work is done we settled the full amount and we paid using Credit Card.

We also had the walk-in wardrobe and cabinets done by my aunt for her house, by the same contractor and paid using CC.

We shopped around to compare prices for cabinet and walk-in wardrobe but had everything done by our contractor for much cheaper.
