QUOTE(Dante18 @ Jul 20 2009, 04:23 PM) i know bigger better....but the specs are different. Sharp has a 4ms response time, while the samsung has a 100hz refresh rate...so which is more important fro gaming??? Faster response time is better than higher refresh rate. IINM, Sharp also has better rep than Samsung. |

My TV also does that flickering thing when using component or HDMI. But it's nothing much as long as the game isn't affected, nobody buys a PS3 for the XMB anyway.

QUOTE(Cristiano-Ronaldo-7 @ Jul 22 2009, 07:10 PM) any good 32" LCD TV's out there, full hd ? price range under 2K. dont mind older models either if they are still being sold in shops. Today back page of Star (main section) got some ad for a Sharp, Samsung and Philips. All under 2k. Go check la. Also, Full HD is noticable on 32' but not night and day, don't get too worked up over not having a Full HD 32' if you can't get one. |

QUOTE(Cristiano-Ronaldo-7 @ Jul 26 2009, 04:02 AM) i do own a good library of blu rays, but my tv isn't good enough. its pretty old. i dont need the best, just something i can enjoy at a good enough level. my old philips ain't cutting it. i knew it was shit for bd. but for games its always been all right, till i realized some times when i played it seemed more smooth in the frame rate, where most of the times it was a bit slow, i dont know if you get my drift though, but i've realized that its not keeping up with the quality. so i'm in the market for a new tv actually. and of course fully feeling the oomph of my bd library. Generally, Sharp LCDs are quite good la. No need to worry about model that much.whats the model number of the sharp lcd you're suggesting btw? QUOTE(syahir24 @ Jul 26 2009, 04:08 AM) Here it is around RM1.5-1.6k, but the extra cash is worth it if you don't have time to maintain your PS3 often as warranty claims are very convenient. |

QUOTE(e30 @ Aug 2 2009, 11:47 AM) so whats the best low budget lcd monitor to get for ps3 usage? went to pc fair but the prices weren't too attractive. preferably 22"-24", hdmi in, and full hd possibly? As most others have said, the Acer is a really good budget monitor. The pricing is good, the inputs are good and the colors are good. What more you want? |

QUOTE(ezee123 @ Aug 3 2009, 12:23 PM) Want to ask all the sifu here .... IINM, there are two solutions to your problem.I am currently connecting my PS3 to my computer LCD Via HDMI-DVI cable. At the moment I am having to plug the DVI connection in and out from the monitor everytime i switching between my computer and PS3. I don't like the idea of having to turn n twist the LCD everytime I want to change the cable. Any solution that can offer me? The first one is using VGA for your PC. VGA and DVI difference is not night and day and will not make a big difference. The second one is using a VGA box for your PS3. When using VGA box, your PS3 has to output via Component (not HDMI) although this doesn't make a very big difference unless your monitor is 1080P compatible. If you use VGA box, you also have the option of plugging both your PS3 and the PC into the box. This way, the PC has to output via VGA, but switching between the inputs is as simple as the flick of a switch/press of a button. |

Older Plasma not good due to ghosting, burn in etc.
But newer Plasmas are also very good nowadays. |

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Aug 4 2009, 01:05 PM) Burn-in issues are the thing of the past. Plasma has a better contrast ratio, black levels and all that. But, it is much easier to find a place to put an LCD as LCDs don't have to worry about reflections. You can turn on bloomberg for 24 hours now on a plasma and the burn-in of the stock-market ticker wouldn't really be there. Even if it is, you just need to turn on a white screen image for a couple of minutes. It depends on your needs. Plasma TVs still surpasses LCDs in contrast ratio and black levels. Great for movies, great for games too. But the power consumption of a plasma is stupid.... definitely not earth-saving. Also, with LED TVs, LCDs can achieve plasma-like contrast ratios and black levels while retaining their power-savingness (for proof, just look at the Bravia XBR8, we don't have it, but some reviewers have said that the black levels are equal to the Kuro, which is saying a lot). |

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Aug 4 2009, 09:33 PM) Yea but the thing is, Plasma TVs at the range of 2.5k-3k still offers better black levels than on competing LCD models at the same price range too. But smaller plasmas are most expensive than smaller lcds. If theres no budget included, yes... LED LCD TVs are the way to go. Or if you have the room and want the absolute best, nothing beats projection. A 32' Panny is the price of a 37' Aquos. |

QUOTE(300078 @ Aug 5 2009, 07:18 AM) Today maybe going to do some survey. Any LCD tat i should keep an eye on? i may look at some of the existing LCD too. Generally, LCD from Sharp, Sony and Samsung are reliable, although Samsung does have a few issues here and there with the lousier ones. Sony used to be overpriced, but the 40S400 is a cheap way to get 1080p. Added on August 5, 2009, 6:35 pm QUOTE(SSJBen @ Aug 4 2009, 09:51 PM) Perhaps a subjective question, but I do think that 32" does look better than the 37" Aquos. Though the power consumption really is rather annoying.... That may be true (somewhat), but do you really want to put a 32' in a medium sized living room?32' is good for smaller rooms but a 32' just does not cut it when it comes to being a main TV. Maybe people who live in apartments la. Also, don't LCDs live longer than plasmas? This post has been edited by gnsumas: Aug 5 2009, 06:35 PM |

QUOTE(wallance13 @ Aug 24 2009, 07:32 PM) Hi. My friend wanted to get Depends where your friend intends to place it.PANASONIC VIERA TH-L37G10K or SAMSUNG LA40B61 Any idea which is better? But in terms of quality. I don'y know which is better.. If it is in a dedicated TV room with no external light source, get the Panny, as Plasmas have a wider color gamut. If it is in a living room or some room with a light source, get the Samsung, as LCDs reflect less. If your friend is environment-conscious, get the Samsung as LCDs use less power. If in a small room, get the Samsung, as Plasmas radiate more heat. |

QUOTE(wallance13 @ Aug 24 2009, 08:13 PM) I'm not sure, but most of Panasonic's current lineup are Plasmas. Also, 37" is an unusual size on both Plasma and LCD, while 40" is fast becoming the industry standard (since 40" TVs sell very well due to modern living room sizes), so repairing a 37" will definitely be more difficult to repair in the near future. QUOTE(waikit @ Sep 5 2009, 10:42 PM) Increase the brightness of your TV a little bit. Brighten the backlight a little bit. Just leave it at whatever game you test with and adjust until you are satisfied. Don't care whether any AV guru like or not, its you who are going to use it, screw everyone else |

QUOTE(Darkstalker @ Sep 7 2009, 08:12 PM) Buy a HDMI-DVI cable. Then plug the HDMI end into the PS3 and DVI end into monitor. For audio, use the normal yellow, white, red cable and plug into the AV multi port. When screen pop up, say you want to output with HDMI. Then go Sound Settings and choose the red white cable to output audio. |
