My Macbook has this problem happened 3 times in last one week. A window popped up stated "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button".
Anyone know why? How to solve the issue?
Thanks.

We need to see what causes a kernel panic
Few things :-
1. Hardware (RAM , bad HDD)
2. softwares (kernel extensions/drivers)
you need to give us more details and when does it happen ?

1. Hardware (RAM , bad HDD) It happened last week when i was on original RAM (512M x 2). And it happened again yesterday and today where I am on Mushkin RAM (2G x2) How to check for bad HDD? 2. softwares (kernel extensions/drivers) Not quite sure how to answer this as I am new to Mac. I was running Mail, Firefox and Adium only most of the time. When it happened, the message window just popped up, nothing special that I did before hand. Tell you what, go to Applecare Support in Apple Website and download Techtool Deluxe and run the diagnostic yourself first. http://www.apple.com/support Lower left-hand corner. Near AppleCare.

Search rember from http://macupdate.comCheers.

Added on December 17, 2007, 10:41 pmWhen I test all memory using Rember, I got: "Memory request is too large, reducing to acceptable value...", I have a error in Block Sequential ? There is no error when I test less memory say 2400MB. I have 4GB on board. This post has been edited by T816B: Dec 17 2007, 10:41 PM

AppleCare is actually a premium on top of the regular warranty, including full time phone support and the TechTools CD. I also think that Apple tends to take care of AppleCare people better, but that's a personal opinion Each Mac should come with a hardware diagnostics CD though, you don't need the TechTools CD to do a hardware diagnostics.
