I don't know how to tell instantly, but to my knowledge if the face buttons start to fade after some time, then it's fake.

test it with ur hands, the cable on the original one is softer and more flexible, there is more shiny on the surface of the buttons, the watermark is more protrude at the back in original

Last time i bought from bernerd and he told me how to identify ori and fake ones... Just look at the analog part. There should be a line facing upwards for the original one while the fake one is horizontal.

I know this is a ps2 controller issue, but how about the sixaxis? i heard from the shop where i bought mine said that, the ori is has bit translucent part in front and has serial no at the back, where the fake has no translucent part has no serial no at the back. and it is useless without the usb cable<---not really wireless...and the package box is also diff. Is this true? anyone has any information? hmm.gif

p/s: of course i bought the ori ones.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Well this is my own research. The color of both button are different if you see properly. The color for fake is much more darker then original. 2nd is the hardness of the button. For the fake, it's a lot more harder when you press on it compare to the ori.

Another thing is the " X " button will sink at the body level when pressed fully. You can see the start button also a bit sinked not like the original DS2.

Unless you got the original and the local controller tagged side by side, than you can realize that there is difference between original DS2 and cheapo DS2.

Imo, to be really safe side, its either u go get it from Sony shop itself (i think its rm90) or get a Logitech wireless controller (abt rm150) from any shop (don't think theres any fake of those).

Cheers biggrin.gif

when you open the controller the L1,L2 & R1,R2 button is the best way to detect, fake one use a lousier rubber.

fake one is actually
1)heavier then the original

2)the wires is thickers

3) the dunno-what-with-serial-number-whatever (behind the controler) is paste-on sticker rather then part of the controler itself

4) the analog stick will feel awkward when use

5) all the button is harder then the original

6) use it for 6-7 month end it will go bust

hmm...i've read this somewhere a long time ago.
The ori dualshock has a pressure sensitive mechanism. The best way to detect it is by playing a racing game. Push the accelerate button softly and the car should move at a slow rate and vise versa.
