Im currently planning on to buy the XFX 8800GT XXX edition which has its clock at 640. Would this be a wise decision or should i go for the normal XFX 8800GT at 600 clock speed. My spec are as below:
OS- win xp home Mobo- Asus maximus formula GFX- ??? Processor- intel Q6600 Ram- 4GB kingston hyperx psu- cmaster 550watt realpower
p/s: i dont plan on OCing the gfx anymore than it is but might do on the processor
Would really be glad of some help in choosing my gfx. Thankz

Hmm thankz for the quick response. Still I have heard of some trouble with the XFX XXX edition which crashes on games(from what ive read on forums). How far true is this problem and whether i should go for asus 8800GT top instead. as to which would be more stable or efficient on my rig.

QUOTE(ryudox @ Feb 26 2008, 06:40 PM) how about the nearly extinct 8600GTS SLI? can beat the 8800GT single? well doubtful as well that it would beat the 8800GT single...... 8600(already old) 8800(new and improved) p/s: thats just my opinion though

QUOTE(ben_panced @ Feb 27 2008, 12:23 AM) definitely nope.. 96gt > 88gt > 88gs anytime rite now it's not viable to buy 88gt 256 anymore... is this inclusive price/perf or performace alone..... coz as far as i see benchies 8800GT beats 9600GT but by a small margin......

well u cant compare a 9600 with 512 to a 8800gt with 256 can you, surely it'll lose when using higher reso benches

QUOTE(vincentlaw @ Mar 5 2008, 02:01 AM) idle at 60'c or 57'c is bad for a big cooler like this... mine idle at 48-49'c and load on 65'c and thats overclocked to 740/1838/2136 thats a good temp for a 8800GT....

the top 8800GT is a dual slot type, should be less hot then the single one
