Guys,

Need some oppinion here. Is it worthy to get the 256MB version of the 8800GT for its current price point? And, is it recommended to run games at 19" native resolution and above? Between this and the 256MB HD3850, which is better?

My new PNY 8800GT are currently idling at 59c. Is that consider ok? What is the normal temperature for idle and load? Anyone tried adding a PCI cooler below the 8800GT?Would it significantly cool off the card itself?

IIRC, i saw a 8800GT with a Zalman V1000 cooler at Cycom yesterday. Didnt really asked for the price but it looks kinda cool.

Not really tested it yet. Still awating a benchmarking program to see the load temperature. Anyway, tested Stalker just now at max setting, 4AA, resolution 1440 * 900 - everything ran smoothly and very satisfied at the price point..

Try to tune the fan speed using RivaTuner to 40-65%, you'll have better temp reading icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Would that be noisy by running at 65% fan speed all the time during idle? And normally, how much difference i would see by running it at that speed?

Anyone tried running the Accelero S1 cooler on the 8800GT?Is it a good cooler? Might look into a replacement cooler as the current stock cooler is running real hot..LOL..

The fan is meant to run at those speed so it should be aite.  icon_rolleyes.gif

How about running them at 100% for 24/7? I just faced some overheating issue just now. Cant figure out the fact that it comes from the GC or CPU or combination of both. Crazy CPU running at 48c at idle which is crazy (Socket 939 Opteron 165) while GC is running at almost 65c on idle. Tried running the fan at 100% just now and idle temperature drop to around 56c. Somehow, i felt that the CPU heat is a bigger factor here...

anyone know what heatsinks is this?

From the look of it, its somehow resembles a cut down version of the Zalman VF1000. Heard some rumours about this redesigned Zalman fan earlier with some people saying the older VF700 does not really help in cooling down the Gigabyte 8800GT Turbo edition. Thats why they changed it to this new cooler though..

Hope someone could clarify..

Anyway, ECS is coming out with their 8800GT bundled together with the Accelero S1 + Turbo modules.

want to tell a fact that, the turbo kits are crap shakehead.gif

LOL..But how well would it perform compared to the stock cooler? Would a passive accelero S1 be better than the Stock Cooler by alot?

dont agree much.. passive cooler on 88GT? better be in the safe side, make it an active cooling one..  sweat.gif

Not really. Doom used the S1 on the HD3870 and it recorded quite a difference even when compared to the IceQ3 cooler though. So, this S1 cooler must be one hell of a good cooler. Just need to know how good is it on the GT though..LOL.. smile.gif

Some nice review of the 8800GT here. Sorry if this is a repost.

First up, the Sparkle 8800GT CoolPipe3.

For who that is interested in having a passive cooler 8800GT, think again. This custom CoolPipe3 can cook an egg.

Nah, i doubt. Even Sniper69's 7300GT is running load temperature around the same last time. smile.gif Besides, i doubt Sparkle would be stupid enough to put a cooler into the 8800GT that is going to damage the card itself..

But who would want a silent pipe version.LOL..

haha selling eggs? good idea..

anyway i realize my gc is also running at a kinda dangerous temp.

During load its 80C ++

and there was once..., when i was playing FIFA08, the graphics suddenly gone mad with red colour on the green pitch...

wonder if its because of the temperature.
*
Yes, its indeed hot but not until a dangerous level. Heck, the Sparkle as said in post above registered over 100c. So, i guess there is nothing to worry about. smile.gif

they absorb and sent it out to airspace =/

Do  you think that the aluminum case can dissolve the heat just like that? laugh.gif

Well, some people say they do help, some say don't. I personally feel they don't help except for it being light and very pleasant to look at. smile.gif

paham2x la bro..
the g92 is a high end gpu..
720+ transistors.. 65nm manufacturing..
of cosla heat will be an issue, btw i think nvidia should revise their stock 8800gt coolers from 1 slot to 2 slots  brows.gif
that will help to keep the heat problem in check..
btw, my zalman vf-830 alcu hsf is quite good, load temp is around 70 but with my gc runs @ 756/1890/1944 @ 1.2vcore, quite nice eh  brows.gif
*
Well, there is always pros and cons in having a single slot cooler and multiple slot cooler. In this situation of the 8800GT, having a single slot cooler is good because you can use the other expansion slots without being blocked by the cooler itself. Therefore, for people who really need those slots, they are available at ease.

Besides, even with a single slot cooler, idling temperature at around 60c is something quite common nowadays. Most high end GC, no matter single slot or dual slot, normally do idle at around that temperature. And if you still feel its too hot, there is always plenty of high end GC cooler around smile.gif

8 Graphics Card Coolers Tested With the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Nice review indeed but funny that they can use the HR-03 RevA for the 8800GT though.

Its quite worth the upgrade of RM300 with significant performance increase but dude why dont wait and collect ur budget for higher end GC like coming 9800 series as upgrading from 9600GT to 8800GT not too wise just jump up one steps , unless u do care much on FPS .
*
I would doubt you will see significant performance increase by changing from the 9600GT to the 8800GT. Improvent Yes, but significant is a No No to me. Therefore, its not worth the upgrade. I would wait for a better card. smile.gif

Yes, Winfast and Leadtek are basically the same. The Galaxy one is just going wild at RM729. Very nice price indeed. Is it the one with the 2 slot cooler?

that would be good if dun hav any overheat problem occur... As I read somewhere regarding the Gigabyte 8800GT which attached with the zalman cooler has such problem...

IIRC, the problem was with the previous Zalman fan version - VF700. Then, Gigabyte switch the HSF to the same version as what XFX is using and doesn't seem to have any problem though smile.gif
