Got my card.
Tried to reload but unable to see Credit card option.

If you try to reload less than RM50 or more than Rm10000, can see credit card option. But you will not be able to proceed.

Use bigpay option to pay airasia tickets at airasia app, it showed processing fee.

Change to debit card, it recognize as big prepaid and waived the processing fee. Anyone face this?

Hi guys. I have a few questions here.
1. If I topup rm10k in it and I use the card in US, I have the option to choose to pay in USD or MYR right? (In which payment in USD would be the best?)
2. It's stated that there's some cross border fee + currency conversion fee. But I heard from some people that right now there's no fee for overseas transaction for a period of time? Any idea when it will be until?
3. Is using bigpay for retail payment a lot beneficial compared to using normal debit card in US?
4. Is there any maximum withdrawal amount in USD, considering overseas cash withdrawal is costly, one would definitely withdraw a lump sum in every withdraw.
*
1. Always pay in local currency. Let the CC convert.
2. No fees for Bigpay until further notice
3. More convenient if all your funds are from MYR
4. see above posts

I will be in US for about 5 months for my exchange program. Is it adviced to open a bank account during the 5 months or to continue cash withdrawal from ATM using Malaysian debit card?

And referring to 3), what I meant was malaysia local debit card such as Maybank/cimb bank.

Thanks

Not recommended to open bank account unless needed. Some banks charge monthly fees if you do not maintain minimum balance.
Last I checked, some famous banks like WellsFargo or Chase need $1000 min or they charge you monthly fee $12. Some Credit Unions don't charge anything and you get a debit card. Some banks charge debit card fees. best to ask the people over there for options.

For cash withdrawal, few options
1. Use bigpay, pay Rm10 each withdrawal.
2. Open Citibank account in Malaysia. Citibank can do withdraw at any Citibank ATMs worldwide for free. But not sure about exchange rate.
3. You can survive without cash in US. Can buy $1 mineral water and pay with card at Walmart, nobody cares.

If you need to buy stuff from US sites that only accept US cards, you can go get those supermarket debit cards. Some charge fees for reload, so best to ask locals, or do your own research

without the card verification code behind, they are unable to use it online purchase unless they can clone your sim card for TAC as well~
normally some merchant they just straight away key in all your card details into their system to prevent fake credit/debit card because they only can do settlement end of the day.
don't worry so much as long as they didn't take away the CVC behind and clone your sim card or take away your pin etc.

You can buy from Amazon without the need for CVC/CVV

Yeah. I will do the same too.

Anyway, over the past one week I had successfully used this BigPay MasterCard at Traveloka, Expedia, Boost, Shopee, Grab. Only at one Swedish travel website (gotogate) that I was unable to complete my payment using BigPay. I decided not to take any risk and proceeded to book my air tickets via Expedia.

For your information, it seems that Expedia is charging “processing fee” for certain airlines ticket purchase using a certain type of credit or charge card such as AMEX. At the final checkout page, a message appeared that I will not be charged any “processing fee” if i make the payment using VISA credit, VISA debit, MasterCard credit or debit MasterCard. I used BigPay Prepaid MasterCard to pay for the tickets. I suppose it falls under debit MasterCard category. The said airline I said Qatar Airways. I had previously bought Cathay Pacific Airways tickets through Expedia but was not charged any extra for making payment using AMEX. So I guess the “processing fee” to be charged is airline specific.

BigPay and Amazon not so kawan. Out of 10 tries, maybe can get through 1 or 2 times.

In the end, I gave up and used MBB and eat the exchange rate cost.

Why don't link your BigPay with PayPal and use it on your Amazon purchases?
*
Amazon don't accept Paypal.
So still back to square one to use bigpay.

Can probably buy amazon gift cards with paypal via Bigpay I guess.

CAN!  I did that! You just opt out of Paypal auto conversion (there's a sneaky little link there) and choose to pay in foreign currency rather than the RM converted rate.

My Paypal auto-conversion rate for SGD100 was RM313....... BP rate was RM296.  HUGE difference.
*
Paypal is evil. It took me few tries to disable auto conversion.
The menu is so hidden, I can't even recall where it is now.

Hi guys, just wondering whether anyone have tried using bigpay in foreign countries for example Dubai/Qatar or US? This is because I will be travelling and staying in US for a few months and am thinking of utilizing bigpay for the best exchange rate in the US. Is there any limitations or US local law that might interfere with the working principle of bigpay? Thanks
*
Friend use Bigpay in US. No issues and got damn good rates. Even better if you combined with those cashback credit cards. Just be sure to charge in foreign currency. Some terminals asks whether you want to charge in RM. Do not do that, ever.

Caution on using AMZ with Bigpay directly. It does not work well. Also got the same issue with UOB YOLO. Some people suggested to buy Amazon gift cards with Paypal to solve the issue. Limitations such as some US website only accept US credit cards still applies.
