Yes, basically it is illogical, but in reality, there are plenty of people can't control their spending, just swipe the cc whenever they bought and don't do budgeting, only statement come in the end of the month time, only realise, overspend. If u can control your spending then that is not a problem.

Also another good feature in debit card, you can control the card limit based on the amount in the account. CC always set a certain limit say 10K or 5K, but for debit card if you want to set the limit at 1K then you just have to do is bank in only 1K into the debit card account.
But debit card won't be popular or overtake CC in near future, as it is a bit hassle to bank in amount each time you want to spend.
Still CC is much more convenient than debit card. But it doesn't mean debit card won't have their market too, it is good for those above mentioned people.
Just my 2 cents.
