As for me, I'll be going hunting for ahWan in Pekan ... hope will get some pics back for you guys.

Dun lah say like that .... Follow ppl mar .... 2nd trip can organize oledi mar, dun worry ... I'll definitely 'TAG' that place IF it's potential.
But organizer said they (5 fellas) caught 100 over ahWAn there in just a day .... Now I'll see if he bohong or cakap besar ..

I dunno ... he says all those kicilek all released. But they took back quite a lot also, all above 1kg ....

Those guys will also be making their 1st trip with me this weekend lar ... the 1 who will be bringin us there is an uncle ...

.. No .. No .. 1 in bedroom, 1 in store room, 1 in dining hall, 1 in kitchen, 1 in toilet, 1 in balcony & 1 in guest room !!!

My weekend trip very very successful also ....

Total landed ... 70 haruans.
Released ... 30 (all below 800g)

You are right !!! This place is only accessible via 4WD ...

Thanks bro ... but that uncle say this trip not very fruitful vor. He say can get even more IF not for the rain the day before & the strong wind that's blowing yesterday. What a statement !!! I myself also never experience catching so many in a day.

Most of the fishes are caught using live KATAK. Very limited area for lure casting. As you can see, lots of snags. But there was an area at the same spot which were infested by tomans (according to that uncle). Will definitely try hunting them on my next visit.

Sure can wan ... no problemo. But that place not fishable 365 days a year wan.

Only can fish when the rains come & bring the fishes in. And when it's not raining, this place dries up.
It's not known even by local fellas there. Can only be accessible with 4WD. Must wear rubber boots & must bring parang. That's show why this place got that many haruans. It has it times to re-stock ...

And I can tell you .... be prepared for haruan fiesta !!!
Did not have so much fun hunting haruans until yesterday. Cast until tangan sakit woi ...

And yet that uncle said it wasn't a good catch yesterday ...
He said if the timing is right, it's almost 1 fish per cast ... betul ke ni??

But expert uncle says not during the raining season also vor ... good haruan season is only right after raining season.

This is wat he explains :

During raining season the floods will bring in the haruans (you got it right here Bro Rory). Then these haruan fellas will settle down during this period. Not good fishing time as the haruans won't take aggresively as it's new to the environment. Furthermore, the water level will be high. Eventually more hiding spots for them & chances of it seeing your baits will be lesser.

When the raining stops. The water level will go down. This is when the fiesta begins. Your baits attracts them greater becoz of the low water level (the smaller the room, the easier you get attracted to certain attraction). Sounds logic to me ... he ask me, itzit easier for you to locate me in a shopping mall or in a room? Ask a 3 year old child & he / she will be able to answer you.

But I did learn a lot from him yesterday ... do you know he landed more than half of wat we caught yesterday. The other 50% is from the 5 of us. 5 against 1 & yet we still on the losing side ... knncb ...

Not at this moment .. sea condition very bad. Too windy.
But will be arranging a trip to Pekan targetting Ebek. Awaiting boatman's green light. The boatman says it's not the right timing now.

Another trip to Kenyir ... June.

Well, I don't see a reason why they should mind. We as anglers have a common target that is FISH. So it good just to group up if we can & have fun ... that's what fishing is all about, right?? No one likes to go fishing alone ... I dunno about others but definitely not me ...

Please dun get me wrong here larr ... I'm not saying fishing alone is a wrong thing to do, just that I'll never chooses to go fishing alone.
