My comments on the paper:

P1 is a critical paper that required for all the other papers.
Suggest to get the reading requirements other then the Kaplan and BPP text. The examiner has recently offered an article which should be worth the read. The papers risk management part is quite similar to the old 3.1 paper, which gives you some additional past year papers to focus on. The stakeholder concept in the paper is the same in all the other papers - Mendelow grid is now a staple diet for those at the Professional stage.

P2 well it is much wider now with the addition of ethical issues in reporting as well as other reporting requirements. The paper is called corporate reporting which covers more areas than financial reporting

P3 the paper is about the same as the old paper when it comes to the case study part, therefore past year papers will be helpful
On the other hand the paper is under the old 2.1 examiner, who may have a liking towards the E-Business areas and related 2.1 materials.
So far only P3 has had a significant influx of the old 2.1 materials in the exam, ACCA stated that they will spread it equally, but this is not yet occuring.

Added on February 15, 2008, 12:22 amIn my opinion all the papers in the new syllabus have be re-set to equal level of difficulty - in the past, some papers had a higher pass rate and some had lower pass rate, now ACCA wants to re-set all about 30% average.

They already have the largest student number in the world, its time they started to trim down the inflow by increasing the quality.

The professional levels will become much harder.

P2 compared to P1 and P3, I suppose all are the same in terms of effort.
In terms of spotting P2 and P3 is easier
In terms of those with computational interest, P2 should be easier

As far as I remember, the lecturers will only say the paper is hard so as to increase your effort in that paper.

I suggest that each person should conduct your own SWOT before allocating resources (time) for the papers.

Those that are weak in theory, slow down and take your time cause the whole professional level is full of theory
