Have been reading yr comments on ACCA for some time. Most students appear to be asking about the quality of lecturers. Here's my 2 cents worth. No matter how brilliant, the lecturer is not sitting yr exam... you are and the key to success is hard work, perseverance, understanding of topic and last but not least, esp for papers which emphasize written rathen that numerical ability, good english. I hope that u don't write in yr exams like what u are writing here.

Wrong. Good lecturers is a basic ways to success. Without a good guidance from lecturer, we might take more time to learn. A good lecturer makes you success faster and easier. A bad lecturer also can give u success, but you've to take more time (resit).

3 members replied to my post and I have randomly taken the first reply to take the issue a little further. This is the issue of written English. A good lecturer is not there or able to improve the quality of it. For a written paper like P3, you cannot pass the paper by memory work. Becuase we are dealing with factors which are inherently uncertain such as people and the weather which affect strategy, the examiner is looking at how you provide factual, logical arguments. No two answers will be the same. Therefore, coming to my point, you need to express yourself well and be able to have a good command of English. This is to help you understand the questions and express yourself well in your answers.
With due respect, there are many grammatical errors in the written replies of all 3 members who posted. The examiner is UK based and so is the Body, this is one major issue. How many Malaysian students fail their written papers due to poor English? Is a lecturer able to help you in your English? Afeter all, he is not there to teach you English.
I would be interested to know the pass rates of Malaysian and Singapore ACCA student members. Is this available?

I tend to agree wit u guys !!
Good lecturers really helps a lot !! Just imagine reading 200 pages lecture notes VS 560 pages of Textbook ! How much time u can save by this !!
However, my MOM always said SELF STUDY is the best . (I don't agree wit her, & we start to argue... mad.gif She claim that TEXT BOOK is sufficient to pass. And because I am working, ACCA tuition is very far away & time constraint, I choose to self study , and I fail some of the papers.)
YA, u are just like my mom !!

The problem here is the TEXTBOOK!! .Kaplan Textbook is so lenghty yet it is not in point form. Some of the points is repetitive. Some points are too short with not much explaination. Frankly, I don't like the textbook but I m using it ! I have no other sources ....

I heard BPP is better, but I only managed to get KAplan.

If we have a GOOD textbook, we don't need to attend lecture class.
Ya, for most people, attend class is the ONLY time that force us to study . tongue.gif
