Prize winners will still do well no matter where they study. It's just that all the smart students tend to go there, same like how the smart students to go Taylors. Probably because they are not well informed that there are other places to study too.

What a lot of people don't realize is, prizewinners got their achievements from lots of hard work, and not Sunway. Trust me, once you're in there, you'll feel nothing special. I spend so much time in classes, I don't even use the library or anything. So there is no campus life anyway, even if I'm at Sunway. Sometimes my lunch break is only 45 mins sad.gif

To me, there is only one good lecturer in Sunway, which is Ms. Menon.

Yeah having a certain level of English language would help you a lot. In the high levels the exams are mostly theory, and a good command of English would enable you to lay out your points.

But I believe you can do it. Try improving English as you study. It's even tougher for China students whom I see bring an electronic dictionary to translate English into Chinese.

is there any requirement for English in ACCA course? Or anyone can enroll for ACCA as long as one has the will to study?

err..to b frank..my English level is so so indeed..

my teacher suggests me to try self studying instead of signing up for intensive English course..

i wonder if this way really works out..

i hav been studying English during these few months yet i fear all my efforts r in vain..

what should i do now?

i wil b pursuing ACCA course in July..and i m afraid i fail to cope with it since i m kinda weak at English.. sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif

No specific English language requirements to enter. But from what I see your English level is adequate. I really don't think you'll face a lot of hurdles though.

Studying the course might also help you improve your English as you pick up new words. Give it a try, I think you can do it smile.gif

However if you're still unsure, try checking out the textbooks and see if you have difficulty understanding it( the explanations, not calculations)

o..thx..ur words make me feel better..

i intended to study English course b4 but my dad had rejected my request. Thus, i try self-studying at home.

umm..u r right, one needs to have good English to understand English ..

i hav been studying an accounting bk written by Frank Wood recently. Hav u heard of tat bk.? Wil it help to improve my foundamental knowledge of accounting for ACCA?

Frank Wood? Heard of the author before but he has several books. I only did some Business Accounting which is only relevant for the first paper in ACCA, F3.

If you need to brush up your fundamentals, CAT might be a good route, since it teaches you the basics all over again, but then it's longer by 6 months compared to Part1.

I can't help but not ignore this dispute, not because I'm from Sunway myself, but I am of the view that there is absolutely no point to even start this in the first place. The fact of the matter is while ACCA is an external course, it can be approached with a different path. Ultimately, students are the real beneficiaries of the products the respective colleges offer.

We choose where to study based on our requirements in terms of location, environment, study environment and lecturers . There is no rule to say that external students does not have to experience college life, and there is also no rule to say we should. While we are here online doing this, what you all might not know is the directors of Sunway and KL colleges are in good terms, sometimes meeting up for tea and discussion, while we argue online to protect our respective colleges. Why? Does this show that we are immature?

Sunway understands that ACCA is an external course, yet there are those who want to be able to experience a college life while studying the course, and hence the reason they provide. This also explains the price difference.

Choose where you want to study, but just don't go around bashing the colleges you didn't choose. After all, we're all in this together, right? smile.gif

I'm trying to be as objective as possible, so if anywhere on my reply shows otherwise, just inform me. I really am not looking to make things worse.

i've been studying Business Accounting either.i study this bk. bcoz i thought i wil study ACCA direcly. Thus, i hav to brush up my accounting knowledge.

Nevertheless,i've changed my mind eventually.i decided to study CAT and proceed to ACCA level 2..

u r right..it's quite time consuming..but ..suppose i study ACCA straightly..it might b rather tough for me once i move up to 2nd level..

any suggestion for me ^^

If you're going with CAT then I see life would be a little easier as it goes back to the basics, and assumes you have zero accounting knowledge. Probably my only advice is to get a very solid foundation in CAT, try scoring as high as you can, don't just be satisfied with a pass. It helps a lot in level 2 and above as the subjects builds on your foundation, and a weak one will never go far and will be faced with difficulties.

Lastly, enjoy the course smile.gif We do better if we look forward to it

Here's a good way to get your pass code, and thank me for that tongue.gif

Simply click on the link that says you forgot your password. Enter the student number, and it should send you the pass code to your email
