For the uninitiated and newbs:

There are very few 360 titles that actually have TRUE 1080p resolution, or even 720p for that matter.

Halo 3 for example, doesn't even have 720p, let alone 1080p.

and here's an extensive list of titles, new and old, that don't have 720p either (hence in my books, not actual HD games)

That being said, I'm a proud owner of a Dell 2407 and let me say I'm still very happy and content with my purchase.

It plays the 360 well, and serves as an awesome PC monitor.

However, if you're going to spend RM3k on a display, and you will use it solely for gaming, I would recommend a 32" LCD TV instead.

The extra real estate and vivid colours will definitely fulfill your requirements.

About to hit the "Buy" button on the Dell 27".... guys... but I know this IS what I want

RM2,999....  sweat.gif

I negotiate with my dad + mom, they're willing to help me to pay for 12 months...
RM100 from me while RM150 from them....

What do you guys think... I am not around on Monday and the RM1,100 less offer ends Monday !!!
*
compared to the Dell 24", RM 2,299

you're paying Rm700 more for a mere 3"

compared to the Benq g2400w 24" + HDMI, Rm1759

you're paying RM1240 more for a mere 3"

Now consider these:

I just ripped them from the Senq website just for you

For RM300/RM200 LESS, you get 5 inches more

For the SAME PRICE, you get 5 inches more AND a HDMI DVD player

Please think about it hard. Really hard.

If you were like me, when years ago the only option I had was a RM2900 Dell 2407 (Cuz LCD TVs were still expensive then), then I would understand if you opted for the 2707.

But you have many more options now in terms of 24" lcd monitors that are equally good, if not better, and prices have dropped significantly for LCD Tvs

So call your mom+dad, tell them to read my post, and then only decide.

Xbox 360, don't need to PM me about this. We can talk about it here. It's not like you're confessing your feelings to me so don't be shy.

Coz I'm new and since I did hit the "order button" on the Dell website, you're saying I'm better off buying HDTV (that is not full HD) compared to buying a full HD capable LCD display?

QUOTE(Gurdian 360 @ Dec 8 2007, 03:16 PM)

I'm a Dell 2407 user, and playing games like Halo 3 and COD 4 doesn't look any nicer on a 1920x1200 screen cuz they're all not 1080p or 720p. They're simply upscaled.

IMO, after using the 2407 for years, and looking at others and their 32" LCD TVs, you'd have a more fulfilling experience with a larger more vivid screen.

But you've already hit the ORDER button due to you impatience and fanboy-ism. So there's nothing much to talk bout anymore
Fanboy-ism? Of what??! I am so freakin new here, there nothing to be a fan of... The only reason I ordered so fast is because the offer ends Monday. Have some pity on me, I am new here... sweat.gif

Oh not to worry, my order can be "put on hold" on Monday. Furthermore processing will take longer coz' Tuesday not everyone is working.

Anyways, what if in the future, there are 1080p (full HD) capable games?

Another question, what is the price range of a full HD 1080p HDTV ?
To your first question:

Did you even read my previous posts? Click on the links and read.

There are already 1080p games. But they're only a small handful and most of the major titles are still doing their upscaling trick.

Most native 1080p games now are usually games that don't tax the CPU/GPU of the 360 much, so developers can afford to up the reso to 1920x1080.

Developers like Bungie give some dingdong excuse that they want gamers to have a more 'realistic blabla yadayada experience' so they have to lower to 640p and give more bling effects. But the brutal truth is Halo 3 would be crawling on your screen if they gave it native 1080p.

Your only chance of the next uber game with fancy effects, crazy lighting and graphical coolness to have native 1080p is when developers/programmers suddenly learned how to code better or that the Xbox 360 got a CPU/GPU upgrade.

It's been TWO YEARS since the 360 release. I don't see any leaps and bounds apart from their same old upscaling trick.

So stop counting pixels and be a goddamn gamer and start playing.

To your second question:

I assume you're trying to be sarcastic and trying to show me that 1080p HDTVs are Rm5k++ and that you're getting a God-given deal with your precious Dell 2707 at a mere 2999.

Again, read - my - posts

I showed you 2 options: one if you're still adamant about 1920x1200, and one if you're willing to go for more screen space.

The 2407 is a damn fine monitor, and thus paying RM700 for another 3 inches is just not worth it.

and when you compare the equally good BenQ 24" which you save a whopping RM1240, it's just borderline stupid.

Pity your parents little boy. Help them save some money for themselves and give up the damn 3 inches.

Whoa... totally didn't expect that but thanks anyway.
Alright, let's put the sarcasm and 1080p rants of mine AWAY for good.

I am really confused, frustrated and worse still, hope my money hadn't gone to waste and that is why I am here.

(as for the Dell, like I said, I can put it on HOLD on Monday...)  nod.gif
So here's the deal - - -

1. What is the price range of a full HD 1080p TV ?
2. What can I get for less than RM3k on a full HD 1080p TV ? [meaning: resolution and clarity]
3. What can I get for less than RM3k on a non full HD 1080p TV ? [meaning: resolution and clarity]
4. What would be the viewing area of answer No.2 or No. 3 if available at that price range ?

I ask sincerely.  notworthy.gif No offence mate, but I was seating on the edge of my seat when I hit that order button.

1. 6k - 7k

2. No such thing.

3. Short of screaming "GOOGLE IT", stop being a lazy-tard and read my previous posts.

4. No such thing for No.2, and read my previous posts for No. 3

for 1500, try and +RM200 and get the Benq G2400W.

Otherwise, go for the Dell E248WFP; http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/c...dhs1&l=en&s=dhs

Both are 24" and both are TN panels.

However the G2400W has better blacks and colours compared to the E248WFP.

PLUS, the Benq has a HDMI port.

So imo, try and scrape another rm200 and get the benq. Cheers
