Memang bergaya abang sarjan.

where can i find a place to learn and training for archery in ipoh???

and what about cost for that..

just a newbie having fun with this sport...heheehe

Not sure of place to learn and train in Ipoh.
I think this are the few things you can do :
1) You can ask the Perak state archery association.
2) You can come down to KL every week since there are a few places in KL that provide archery range.
3) Find out the nearest archery shop and enquire if they provid archery classes or not.

Me a newbie oso.

Hi,, I play archery at Stars Archery at Sunway Pyramid only. I am interested to pursue archery further. anyone have any info on training places, coaches, or friends I could contact to learn more?

btw, I'm in shah alam.. nice meeting all of you. smile.gif

For training places, based on this forum :
1) LA Sports (formerly Lion Archery) - in Kepong (I think in Bandar Menjalara)
2) Expert Archery - Shah Alam
3) There is a club in Bukit Jelutong run by a web-based archery items seller
4) MSN in Keramat, KL

Me also plays at Star Archery, Sunway Pyramid. Now contemplating to go serious into target archery.
Still compiling information on all things related to archery and also saving enough to get myself a new set of recurve bow and arrows.

Hi Sarjan,
thxs for  de tips.. what is a decent compound bow to get started?
Im thinking of just getting a compound that shoot >300fps or more.
and double up as a hunting tool. I do own a farm but i dunno
how to shoot yet and i dun wanna spend twice for a bow.
Whats your recommendation and what kinda of budget to get
me started with a decent gear? thanks bro

If you goto LA Sports(Bandar Menjalara, Kepong), they will recomend you Mathews brand or Browning brand.
MAthews Reezen is between 40-70lbs , adjustable, Mission by Mathews is 30-70lbs, adjustable.
The Browning Barracuda is fixed at 40lbs.
Another place to start searching is lelong.com under sabrearcher. Sometimes they do have decent (new or used) compound bow for sale.
For budget, give yourself between RM2.5K - RM3.5K for an average compound bow + some basic accessories.

all compound bow come with life time warranty.. u dont get this on 2nd hand bow.. if u know how to find defect on bow like cracked limb and bend cams then ok if u want to buy 2nd hand c.bow.. if not better buy new from LAsport.. i know some fren that buy direct from pro shop in USA if u dont mind waiting for 2-3 weeks, cheaper yes rm500-rm700 cheaper than local shop.. bare in mind make sure the brand is not under sole distribution of LAsport and UFL like Mathews, Hoyt and PSE.. but actually many of my frends lepas but if kantoi u can kena saman from LA and UFL.. huhu..

complete set with dozen arrows acc. etc. 300fps PSE c.bow at LA is rm1900.. value buy for beginer..
Thanks for the information, wickedgame.
RM1.9K for a beginner compound bow & arrow is cheap for buying direct from a shop like LA Sports.
Was told a recurve beginners bow with basic accessories + 6 arrows (Sebastian Flute brand) starts at RM649 at LA Sports.

Thank for the info bro...but i'll don't think we can shoot the arrow in the school...or simply enter the school area...i guess..

Why don't you contact sarjan tulang for more info.
He is the best person to provide the actual location, time and day of practice etc.

Dry-fire a bow? Wow! No wonder all the archery coach warn about this - "Never pull the string and release without arrows!" Whether it is a compound or recurve bow. Now I understand the reason why. It can cause damage to the bow and also hurt oneself too.

Thanks for the info. thumbup.gif
