the new version ? I drove it ~ ok ah ~ in-fact improvement from previous model alot ~

how they define suck off road? well, this car mean to be city type SUV not those heavy duty car.

if you looking for heavy duty, Toyota Hilux will be a good budget 4x4~ if SUV off road heavy duty? range rover is the 1 ~

I drove the older CRV once...I have to say, quite nice to drive...but I really can't feel the road grip at all sweat.gif maybe I'm not used to it...and also maybe coz it was raining whistling.gif But in my normal car, even in wet I can feel the car is quite stable.

well.. true, the crv sucks off road.. but, it was never meant 2 be off road in the 1st place.. besides, do u really seriously need off roading capability?? if yes, get another car.. if wat u want is juz a simple 5 seater suv wit reasonably good FC n performance as well as a nice looking interior which is quite well equipped n quite nice 2 drive n also priced under rm150,000, than the crv is ur best bet.. n also, it being a honda, it will have good resale value if compared 2 its korean rivals.. its not very expensive 2 maintain n quite spacious inside too.. i do wish it has 7 seats, coz if it has, it would be pretty much perfect..

the idea of the crv was never for off road anyway.. its suppose 2 be a jacked up hatch.. even the 4wd system isnt exactly a 4wd.. the back wheels only comes 2 life when the front wheels starts 2 spin loads.. so therefore, if it isnt snowing like crazy, its juz 2wd..

seriously, if u can live wit that horribly ugly styling exterior, get the crv.. theres no better choice.. thumbup.gif

i think theres few topic regarding we debate X-trial.

but, 1st I need to ask you that u taken the SUV for off road purpose or city cruising? which normally u does?

As I say, X-trial also not mean for off road. I drove the X-trial regulary.... and not mean for off road car....

if you say city cruise then X-trial are value for money than CRV

the xtrail's quite old already, even the replacement's out already, juz not available in our country yet.. so if compared 2 crv, it has better tech in it..

im not surprised.. cars like these, of coz a bit underpower.. the powertrains that r fitted into em cant quite cope wit the weight.. thats y i was hoping there would be more diesel ones coming into this segment..

Yeah, I was being recommended a recon Lexus RX350 with a RM200k price tag....but that was before this...

Let say now I'm in a place that I can get cars with no tax....& that's also explain why I say there is Outlander already here.....

The car price that I can get are as below...

CRV = RM 9,3150

Fortuner = RM 11,5000

Outlander = RM 11,7300

if TS feels that harrier is expensive, maybe fortuner can fit your bill
but as for me, a true loyal honda supporter, cr-v still the best

that's 2nd generation of CR-V, which is powered by K20A4
FC is quite high, but not much power
this is why honda ditched DOHC engine and placed R20A

I tested drive both old model and new model of CRV. I feel new model is more responsive and lighter than old model but I still consider quite heavy. Both also same, minum minyak and underpower probably because of the weight of the body, I tumpang my friend's new crv from klang to genting highlands, full tank gone. For comfortable, I feel ok only. I am looking forward to book CRV when it launched but after test drive, I change my mind. The price for spec is reasonable. If you got better budget, go for harrier 2.4 recond with Japan spec which currently should be around 160k -170k. Highly recommended, superb comfort and quiet with reverse camera, you will see a big difference when you test drive that car. I am going for that vehicle but still saving money for that since insufficient budget. My housemates bought harrier last year, no problem so far and he is happy with it but devil because always convince me not go for showroom car but recond since much more selection.

You must be exagerating the outcome.
The distance between Klang & Genting Highlands paling-paling also 100km.

Assuming the CRV could take in 50 litres of fuel, that translates to 2km / litre!!?? blink.gif
You must be kidding me!! I bet a Ferrari has better FC than that!!

Harrier very very bumpy for the rear passanger. Some japanese fcuk in the car already and then sell it to you. Use the CSI blue light i bet you can see all the sperm around it.

Since u stated that u doing 40% offroad, i suggest u to get something tougher. CRV, XTRAIL RAV4 are not suitable.

Why not u try out Toyota Fortuner, Mit Pajero Sport. They are much better offroad, cuz hv higher ground clearance. U been through those roads, and i m sure u know what will happen if u drive a car with low clearance. hehe..The feeling is painful.

If u can live with a pick up, suggest u try hilux 3.0.
Forget about those city 4x4.

I am not sure though. I heard that the new CRV is not as good as the old ones. My relative using the New CRV says that if the CRV is always sent for service.

Thinking of getting a 2nd hand unit

How is the fuel consumption for the new facelift crv?
I understand the engine is a bit underpower but go genting or cameron no problem rite? If run on 4w drive will consume more petrol.
Is there any common problem for this model?

I don't wan regret after getting then got many problem like electronic or gear.

Thanks

for crv the 4wd is full time one. cannot be manually turned off. unless you DIY. laugh.gif

most of the time it will be on FWD until it detect a slip and the system will send traction to the rear wheels.

underpower is subjective. What is your definition of "powerful" ?

How about when first pickup or overtake, is the car running on FWD or 4WD? because it need power to push it forward instantly.

Is this means that it will be running on 4WD when driving up a hill?

Is the fuel consumption different for FWD and 4WD mode?

all the time it will be on FWD until the system detect a slip or lose of traction at front wheels.

hard to say. Its a sophisticated system and because there is no any light or indicator to tell its on FWD and 4WD mode.

FC also hard to say, reason same as above. But as long as you dont drive and corner like a mad man, then the FC should be easy. I drive the first gen CRV, RM50 can last around 260-280km (city + highway). Drive and corner like mad RM50 last only barely 200 km. laugh.gif

And the first gen one, that's really underpowered. Have to constantly shift to D3 or D2 when climb hill or else will climb like turtle. I envy those in second gen one. sad.gif

Hi mate, i'm driving a 1st gen crv recon year 96/01. Got it as 2nd owner 4 years ago. Well its been faithfull to me without much hassle with the exception of normal tear n wear only. If u are planning to get 1, just make sure u have your mechanic to check the suspension and engine, plus get it from a credible dealer or owner. If possible get it with all the standard tear n wear parts replaced and u'll be set for couple of years without any sweat. I'll elaborate the standard tear n wear parts are mostly the mountings, bushes and absorbers. But do bear in mind that the original parts are pretty costly as well as a set of absorbers will cost rm1.5k for both front and rear. I did a couple of upgrade to the ride myself which really burns a hole in the pocket of which namely sound proofing the entire car and ICE of course. Hope above said helps u out a bit in deciding to be the owner of a crv rd1. Fuel consumption varies according to your right foot. Well for me on highways cruising, a full tank usually will last me a mileage of 6++kms. On the other hand for city driving, a full tank usually will last me a mileage of 450-500kms.

Not that i know of and mine is still doing fine on stock. No cooler is required unless u are planning to do extensive mods to the engine.

hi guys,am driving a 3rd gen crv for 4yrs plus..so far so good, mine on ori modulo kit 07' kit. upgraded to 18",eagle eye and 7" touchscreen dvd,and mugen exhaust with twister. did abit of paint work that looks sportier,at least to me la...overall its a good car to drive around n travelling as its smooth n spaciest. but to b honest,i did owned a rav4 2nd gen bought from naza...which i traded in for d current crv...
comparison:
FC- Crv fair better
Handling- Rav4 as its a awd drive
Performance- Rav4 pickup better
Maintanence cost- Crv d best n lowest coz rav4 D4 engine faulty n cost me a fortune on fixing it
Resale Value- Got a quote for Crv its holding up well...RM105k frm car dealer n RM115k frm individual buyer (mileage 120k yr 07)
Hope it helps for those who interested in doing some research n review...
Cheers!!

CRV also AWD what.

If you say the RAV4 has better handling due to shorter wheelbase and/or stiffer suspension then the point is acceptable but certainly not that AWD point.

i have a rav4 5doors completely different character..crv is lighter and feels empty while rav4 gives you much more fun drives and feels solid too..

we're 22-26 yrs old not married what do you think? tops the cars been is 170km thats about it.."khayal" because its so light, too comfortable and have kinda good sound proof atleast for me..if i keep my mind off a bit thinking sure the car will be off the lane..

if given me to pick ill choose rav4 anyday..but the boot 1 12inch woofer gone your boot..

we thought it would be a great car for him bcz of his golf hobbies even so he complain not be able to fit without tilting..but for moving stuff im sure its pretty handy..

and we having issue regarding having different color on bumper..they say insight/crv have this problem due to not the same material bumper and body..to me its just bullshit..how can you pay for 140k over for different color body and bumper??

My Survey

Please don't report me, i'm doing it for the sake of my studies sad.gif

I'm thinking of getting a set of absorbers front n rear to replace my stock ones which are starting to show signs of wearing out even though I've just changed it a little over 3 years ago. Original from Honda somemore. I'm looking at bilstein b6 shocks as best possible replacements as stock ones doesn't last. Any1 here used bilstein b6 in their crvs before? I heard only good reviews regarding bilstein shocks in other car made but yet in a crv. Do drop by any opinions n review here. Thanks.

Well thinking of going for 1 that will provide comfort and a piece of mind for the money spent. No doubt Bilstein is a very reputable brand therefore cost amounting to a mini bomb as well but if it is worth it then it is a good pick. Anyway how about Gab from Japan? Any1 used it before? Heard some good reviews regarding it as well. I do second to the statement "CRV is a comfortable ride in its class". thumbup.gif

RM50 brings me 200-210km. Drive like mad, instantly becomes 150-160km.

maintenance if bring to mechanic bawah pokok, more expensive than normal Honda cars, need extra lubricants for its 4WD differential. Since it is such an old car, things are prone to break/dysfunction such as the wheel bearings. Road Tax is RM 370++/year.

Just a matter of luck if you're buying a second hand one in the market. If possible, get the facelift with 150hp engine. Better power and probably slightly better FC since it has adequate power to move its bulk. The OD button might comes in handy too on hill and slopes.

Well I usually pumped around 50l when the yellow petrol sign popped out which amount to rm 90 for ron95 or rm145 for ron97. Frequent speeding will give me a mileage of around 400km per fil while free n easy gets me about 450km per fill. All in city drive. In cases of frequent speeding, I'll elaborate it as constant raising the rpm to about 4-5k for speedy start off or overtaking or coming out of a roundabout/junction. For long distance drive via highway or trunk road with speed bearing an average of 120km/h gets me a surprising good mileage of about 600km per fill. Overall crv is a very comfortable ride in it's class. I just changed the abs to bilstein b6 and the feedback after using it for a few months now, the ride is more bumpy at slow speed etc 0-50km/h but very much sturdy at higher speed and surprisingly I don't feel anymore bounce or so call floating feel when going through uneven roads even through small potholes. Very much a much smoother ride at the speed above 50.

Stock standard tyre size is 205R15 profile 70. Price wise varies according to brands. I'm using Michelin primacy lc costing about 400 a piece. Tear n wear usually are the wheel bearings, arms and bushes. I've replaced abs, stabilizer links n bushes, wheel bearings and front upper arms throughout the five year ownership. That's the parts that are most prone to tear and wear. The rest major parts such as steering rack, gearbox, drive shaft and engine are still working perfectly.

why want to susah susah mix? Waste money somemore.

some engine if old and condition not so good, will eat minyak hitam, so better to take thicker oil, normally people use xW-40 but some also use xW-50. Use semi if service interval is long (7k-10k km) and mineral if service interval is short (5k km).

I'm using motul fully syn. 5w30. I'm not sure about others but to me I felt the engine more responsive with it. Current cycle of service will be every 6 months at mileage of roughly about 6-8k. Don't drive much during weekdays as I got a company car for daily driving.

The front only got upper arms, while rear have both upper and lower arms, try check your abs. Or the sound could be coming in from rear. Nyek nyek sound from my experience can come from either arm bushes or abs otherwise no idea. Kluk kluk or klok klok sound on the other hand may come from stabilizer link, bush, tie tods or ball joint and brake caliper.

Please don't buy 2.0 CRV ....that is un complete features & old technology suv (almost 20 years technology still use SOHC engine)..at USA & EURO only 2.4 DOHC engine is ok. (no more 2.0 CRV)...if u want CRV I prefer 2.4 ....but 169K too expensive . ...

Really lack so many features? I checked the specs and dun see that many missing items in 2.0: http://honda.com.my/model/major_equipment/crv

I am considering a new white honda CRV, but someone said white color is not metallic, and quality not as good as other metallic color, is that correct? I saw the website did say got white metallic color (Modern Steel Metallic: http://honda.com.my/model/gallery/crv/experience)

For rm150k, there is no reverse parking sensor, no tonneau cover, non-powered driver seat, using temp spare tire.

Please don't buy 2.0 CRV ....that is un complete features & old technology suv (almost 20 years technology still use SOHC engine)..at USA & EURO only 2.4 DOHC engine is ok. (no more 2.0 CRV)...if u want CRV I prefer 2.4 ....but 169K too expensive . ...

As an owner of 8th gen Honda Civic 2.0 I agree with you. Better buy the new Hyundai Tuckson 2.O, better RV, better FC, lots of extra gadget & accessories, GPS, DOHC engine, better safety with 6 airbags and abs and cheaper price. Very good value. thumbup.gif

Tucson better RV than CR-V? You must be joking bro tongue.gif

The CR-V is still a very comfortable car to use as daily car and weekend outing with family. 2.0 is under power due to the weight and real time 4WD. Kit wise it is very less compared to the other competitors, get the 2.4 if you want more accessories.

Overall the car is comfortable and reliable. Yes many uncle/aunty will like this car to go to pasar, can buy a week stock and throw it all at the back biggrin.gif

I have CRV 2003. I normally used castrol 10w-40 but because CRV need more than 4l, i need to buy 2 bottles of 4l (and used the other bottle as top up). any alternative for this? one of the mechanics suggest to add fuel additive. any thought on this

True, CRV need about 4.5 liter of engine oil per change however normally during oil change not all of the oil are drained out(oil change done through oil sump) thus normally i just buy a 4L bottle to fill. Surprisingly it is sufficient for every cycle of oil change. Perhaps in your case your mechanic did a total flush? That explain the need for an exact 4.5L of engine oil for refill.

I'm not sure so far, i have tried 2 mechanics and both asked for extra 0.5 litre. your CRV is it a new one e.g. less than 5 years old?

Nope, mine is the 1st gen. CRV. U can always refer to your car manual for the figure as well. The link below is for your reference.

Just purchased CRV 2013 2.4L that comes with Navigation System. However, the Navigation system is unable to determine my real time location. I brought it to SC and they mentioned it has to do with software issues. An update to the software is required to fix issue @ RM 150.00.

Gut feel tells me it is hardware issue(claimable under warranty) but wanted to get feedback from owners if they face similar issues.

Hi!! I am interested in CRV (yup!! I also compare with the other hot SUV, CX5 brows.gif )

Understand and if I am not wrong, this 4th gen CRV was introduced in MY sometime in 2013 and facelifted in 2015. Due mainly to this CRV really way short of gadgets, even compare to smaller siblings, HRV. I wonder if anyone have any rough idea when the 5th gen will be out? could it be 2017? but now already half way mark of 2016, yet to sniff any news hmm.gif

Noticed that Honda has been improving by giving more specs and gadgets for their new cars, so hoping the next gen CRV will do so too icon_idea.gif

anyone with "inside" info? appreciated!!

Hi fellow CRV owners, I own a 2016 CRV2.4. Been trying to figure out how do I update the Navi system that came with the car originally.
Question 1: Anyone here has any experience on this subject?

I read from another navi forum, we can do it ourselves by updating the SD card in the Car unit. But I have no idea where to find the SD card slot.
Question 2:Anyone here knows where to find the SD slot?

1. No experience.
2. Have you tried consulting the manual that came with the vehicle?

new mazda cx 5 is definitely the best. I really hope they are able to bring in all the goodies like overseas do. Otherwise it is just a beautiful shell

It is popular because of the safety features.

the new honda crv is based on the civic 1.5 turbo. Basically it is just tuned a bit higher power for the size of the car ( unlike hrv use 1.8 civic engine but noting is done on the performance )

Whatever you get on the civic will be in the new crv. Just different shapes and sizes. They may bring in lane watch though and as for the features... very hard to say for malaysia since the country like to deduct almost everything when it is made locally

I went to see yesterday and booked it. It's beautiful inside. The dashboard is digital vs the analog one in the predecessor. And it has Apple CarPlay!

Yes, you can choose to do Android or Car Play. The infotainment system supports both which is excellent, in my opinion.

In fact, a few more differences vs its predecessor.. the handbrake is now a button you press. The older model is a footbrake, the one you pressed with left leg. Another feature is the Econ button - used when you are in a traffic jam and it will made the engine become more economy - less power, I am guessing. There's a nice wood panelling across, making it look luxurious. 2 tweeters and 4 speakers (I forgot) and also USB charger in front and even at the back for your friends to charge their phones (roll eyes).

I believe the main points of this new CR-V is the new 1.5 turbo engine which much more torque and powerful than previous gen, with much lower roadtax, and definitely next is the Honda Sensing

Very cool looking on the dashboard with many features.

Wonder if the Apple CarPlay or Android Car entertainment apps can be updated over time.

By the way, for future CRV 5th Gen owner , you can post your feedback here smile.gif

Is the Apple Car Play available for all new CR-V model ? But not the turbocharged engine (2 models) and Honda Sensing (1 model) , right?

Yeah, I was looking at a 7 seater; hoping that Honda will follow what Thailand did and bring a 7 seater.. alas, that is not the case. How did X-Trail manage a 7 seater? Must be really tight.

I also think X Trail is too big and thus will be clumsy.

I also had a chance to test drive the Honda, really nice!

x-trail's 3rd row seat only suitable for kids below 16 maybe...quite tight...i looked at x-trail before going to honda showroom...crv interior more premium feel...if only crv 7 seat confirmlan no need to compare...just buy..

It's far from being a clumsy car. All the system that Nissan claims to improve the handling of the X-trail really does wonders to make such a big car handle so well. My mom recently bought a 2.0L version, and it's surprisingly nice to drive and bring around corners (I can bring it much quicker compared to say my sister's new Honda Jazz, 80Km/h vs 110Km/H in the X-Trail around NKVE to Sprint's Corner). It isn't that powerful off the line though.

The rearmost seats are not suitable for any adults. The interior is also a let down for the price, but it's still largely acceptable. As for the gravity seats... I'm not sure if they apply for the leather seats cause they don't feel comfortable at all. Should have went for the discounted head unit instead of leather seats cause the fabric seats were really comfortable.

I've been in the turbo diesel version CRV (development vehicle) in Singapore. Interior is very nice, so are the LED headlights and fog lights. thumbsup.gif If I remember correctly, the 2 extra seats behind are also not suitable for adults.

You don't get it.. Just cuz they have decent after sales service, doesn't mean they should skimp in the beginning... FYI, most SCs are backed up (cuz popularity of other models recently released) and you can only reserve an appointment like in a month.. Imagine you bought a new vehicle and have to look at that till it gets replaced.

That from a new car is definitely not normal. Extremely poor workmanship... Even my close to 9 year old vehicle isn't showing such.. I'm very detailed too and will definitely inspect such areas before accepting a new vehicle.. RM170K is no joke, at least to me... IMO, even though I'm interested in the CRV, still waiting on the CX-5 (top specs and awd?) & considering the Tiguan.. I wouldn't buy the CRV now as they'll be rushing to meet orders and tend to screw things up. Sell & deliver first, deal with issues later.. Not my style.. I can wait.. biggrin.gif

I am torn between the 2.0 vtec and 1.5 TC engine.
My concern is the long term reliability of the 1.5 TC engine.
What is your opinion?

No, don't worry. If you have any issues, don't cry on the internet. Just bring it back to Honda and they will fix it. Their customer service is really good.
*
WAS good. Their SCs are now swamped with cars to service and defects to fix. Honda is now a victim of its own success with insufficient SCs and pushing out cars with shabby QC to satisfy demand doesn't help. The huge success of the Jazz will make it worse and the CRV looks like a crowd puller too. Frequent service intervals for their turbo cars doesn't help. The time will come when having to make 1 month appointment to service your Honda car at any SC will be the norm. It's already the case at some SCs now. Getting defects fixed will not be easy.

Is it anti rust or grease oil?
I am more concerned of the hinge... doesn't look sturdy.

Anyone with last year CRV? How does the door hinge looked like?

It should be fine... I'm a member of the COCM group on FB and been following reports.. AFAIK, no such issue.

Could not have said it any better... All these are being factored in the purchase decision. Given their success and the Malaysian way, they won't do much about it. Just keep reporting record sales after sales.. laugh.gif Unfortunately, we have to suffer it.

Which model would be the best value?

My observations on some of the maintenance cost: The lowest spec 2.0cc has higher road tax $438. The tyres are 17" (I guess would be cheaper to maintain).

As for the 1.5cc models road tax is around $120.

IMO, it depends on your driving style. Turbo charging has been around for a long time and all of the top manufacturers are using it so don't worry about the reliability. The issue is whether you like to drive in a relaxing style (buy the 1.8) or whether you like to push it a little bit (buy the 1.5).

Anyone driving 2.0 New CRV? 1.5T abit pricy to maintain since the oil change is more frequent and the 18inches tyre is expensive.

Will 2.0 underpowered?

I don't think deliveries have been made yet. As for maintenance cost.. Yes 18 inch tires are generally more expensive.. Know what is more expensive? 19" or some really good 17" or even 16" inch tires..Best advice I can give is never to buy more car than you can really afford.. World ain't going to end.. So if you having doubts? do not pull the trigger. Wait another year if you have to.. Save up some more.. When you are comfortable with the expenses, I guarantee you...There will be a brand new vehicle waiting for you to drive away..

Definitely go for the 1.5TC. Huge diff in power (40hp/54nm more). To me 153hp for a 1.5+ ton car is underpower.
Unless you drive slow all the time. Is alot fun to drive with the 1.5TC, more fuel efficient, new tech & cheaper road tax.
Spending almost 150k, get la something more powerful and more fun to drive SUV. lol. not the boring 150hp NA old engine...

Civic TC already in market almost 1 year, so far no issue with the turbo engine. And turbo engine is not new anymore. Audi/MB/BMW etc been using turbo for years and now japanese manufacturer starting to move to turbo also.

Don't worry too much on the long term reliability la. Japanese tech are quite reliable. unless u want to stuck with boring N/A or buy a basic car without tech if you worry biggrin.gif

Saw one actual unit near m house. Looks wise, the road presence definitely looks more resolved than the outgoing one.
