Am a beginner in darts.
Just got myself a Harrows Torpedo 23g.
http://www.edarts.net/st_darts/torpedo_pack.jpg

Tested out in the last 3 weeks before the company I work with organised its Sports Carnival which have darts as one of the Sports event.

My opinion on this set :

As a beginner in darts, I have no qualms on the weight initially till in the 2nd week when I tried my friend's heavier darts (26g) and I like it better. (That is another story)
I have to say this dart is slim ( I was informed by Das there are many types of "barrel" - stubby, thin and long or thick and short). And the standard set comes with a nylon shaft c/w ring and standard flights
The part where I hold the dart is designed in such a way that I will have a good grip, not too slippery. The pointed tip, I was told is fixed.

Although I may not be able to hit consistently 20s, 19s or the triple/double ring (beginner, remember) but I like this darts game where you start from a no. 301 or 501 and as you hit the dart board, you deducted the total no. that you hit till you reached the lowest possible number to "check-out". It was fun, and I would like to go and play darts once a week.

Torpedo Tungstens are the ideal introduction to the world of Tungsten Darts Technology. For the beginner, the 70% tungsten precision made Torpedos can be obtain at an affordable price.

Hope to drop by at most locat darts scene when I have the time.

Cheers.

So, allow me to take the first step to introduce darts & darts accessories review. I welcome darters to share views of darts & accessories you use, & hope info gonna be useful for others. Nevertheless, i'll try my best for a product review a night.

Target L-flights
Claimed the worlds first perfectly shaped aero space precision moulded dart flights. Unique locking ring ensuring maximum grip to the nylon shaft so the flights do not comes off. Extra tough flights for extra long life span. Comes complete with 2 sets of color coded L-grip rings. Available in white, black, blue, green & pink.

Aim Darts is selling this @ RM20 per set. Expensive, but let see if it is worth buying. I'd tested the flight for 2 weeks, darting on alternate day for 3-5 hours session. Packaging is tip top, after all it is a japanese product. I would say it is a rebranding coz Target just stick its sticker on the box. Material is soft plastic, but with thicker plastic around the edges and rear that made up flight protector-like finish.

After first night, one can notice marks of grouping at the surface of the flights. However, this flight has nice in-flight throw effect that could due to the precised shape. Into second week, the flight koyak already  doh.gif . Not koyak on top part but at the bottom. How this could happen? Maybe the point of the incoming dart hit directly at the bottom part. But since 2 out of 3 flights have the same exact location of the tear, I come to the conclusion that it is not worth buying this flights. Ruthless R4X is more lasting (fitted with flight protector) yet cheaper. Imho, L-flights is for Japanese market, where popular darts played in Japan are soft tips so the flights won't get damaged easily. So, save your money and just buy the usual flights range.

Wow! Target brand - I thought that this brand is from England like Winmau, Unicorn and Harrows.
Only Tiga, to my knowledge, is from Japan.

Anyway, Target brand, from what I was told, is of good quality, but the cost is on the high side.
Agreed with kimikewl taht there could be cheaper version (different brand) but will do the same trick.

So far, I only use Unicorn Maestro flights, costing between RM4.50 - RM6.00. (Made in China lah, tapi brand is from England). biggrin.gif

Review - Unicorn Gripper II shafts

Compared to previous Gripper shafts, Gripper two has a tightening hole and unicorn brand at its body. A set package comes complete with rings to secure the flights + a spare ring should you loose a ring.
[attachmentid=1650755]

In comparison with the usual deflectagrip nylon shafts, Gripper II is easily broken at the top part where you slot your flights - only if you are good in grouping darts. I broke mine a set in less than 12 hours - Is it me not good in grouping or just being lucky the incoming dart did not hit the shaft directly  sweat.gif

On contrary, Gripper II shaft is light, lighter than deflectagrip nylon shafts of same length. The material is light, which does not add much weight compared to  the usual nylon shafts however, sacrifice its strength to withstand the force of incoming dart. You can choose - normal deflectagrip nylon that is cheap and last longer or a bit expensive but does not add much weight to you complete set up dart - example, if your dart weight is 24g, you are throwing somewhat less than 25g by using Unicorn Gripper II compared to over 25g if using deflectagrip nylon shafts. Again, it's all about preferences.

So, buy from those who can advise you on your darts & accessories, not just bcoz the item you are buying from a seller is cheap. My reviews are based on customers' feedback on the product used, and genuine customers' and personal experience. That is also why I am not surprise my review being used as selling point by new seller. Well, sharing is a caring bit, thanks for reading this thread.

I understand that there is a Darts tournament organised by the Klang Club in Klang sometime end of this month.
Can anyone confirm to this?

A personal review/opinion on Target Play Darts.

I got myself a 25g Match Play Darts from Target recently and have been throwing a couple of times and these are my findings.

The Match Play Range are made from 80% Tungsten designed with grip and feel in mind. IMHO, the grip is there even in my sweaty palm and fingers. I was informed that the True range range has been designed to accomodate all the popular holding and throwing techniques. Definatley worth it (even though slightly dearer than your normal Harrows or Unicorn dart set) as these darts do feel good in your hand with natural bumbs and curves. Finger placement is good.

In short, these darts felt balanced in my fingers as well as good grip on it.

If from BC, then the nearest place would be Los Locos, Ampang (kimikewl's regular place) or Amin Studio, Ampang (home of a Malaysian Darter).

"The Ball Room, Level 5, Wisma MPL, Jln Raja Chulan
- Opp The Weld, next to AmBank
- 5 Winmau Ton Machine boards, entry level board with round wire. So, look out to those bounce darts as dart bounce could be as far as to the oche
- Wind up not only with darts, but also snooker and pool"
