Review - Unicorn Gripper II shafts

Compared to previous Gripper shafts, Gripper two has a tightening hole and unicorn brand at its body. A set package comes complete with rings to secure the flights + a spare ring should you loose a ring.
[attachmentid=1650755]

In comparison with the usual deflectagrip nylon shafts, Gripper II is easily broken at the top part where you slot your flights - only if you are good in grouping darts. I broke mine a set in less than 12 hours - Is it me not good in grouping or just being lucky the incoming dart did not hit the shaft directly  sweat.gif

On contrary, Gripper II shaft is light, lighter than deflectagrip nylon shafts of same length. The material is light, which does not add much weight compared to  the usual nylon shafts however, sacrifice its strength to withstand the force of incoming dart. You can choose - normal deflectagrip nylon that is cheap and last longer or a bit expensive but does not add much weight to you complete set up dart - example, if your dart weight is 24g, you are throwing somewhat less than 25g by using Unicorn Gripper II compared to over 25g if using deflectagrip nylon shafts. Again, it's all about preferences.

So, buy from those who can advise you on your darts & accessories, not just bcoz the item you are buying from a seller is cheap. My reviews are based on customers' feedback on the product used, and genuine customers' and personal experience. That is also why I am not surprise my review being used as selling point by new seller. Well, sharing is a caring bit, thanks for reading this thread.

Target Storm Points

Target latest storm darts points are available in finger grip and smooth points. Okay, an intro for those who not sure the difference between chrome and black points is that chrome points usually slippery. It makes your darts vulnerable to fall from the board within throws or before you manage to pull your darts from the board. This resulted the score of fallin dart not counted. How to overcome this, darters usually use smooth sand paper, or replace the chrome points to black points or Unicorn board grip or Target Diamond points.

However, unlike the usual chrome points, storm points do stick just like board grip despite it's chrome finish. This is because the finish is purposely made rough in circular motion just like board grip, so fine u may not notice it's there. As oppose to unicorn board grip that may damage your dartboard, Storm points do not. I've been using it for 3 weeks and none of my darts fall from the board despite hit by incoming dart. Another advantage of storm points is its Trident180-like shape, saving your flights from torn by incoming darts. While Trident180 cone doesn't last long, storm points' cone last forever hence save your money on tear and wear parts mentioned. Smooth version storm points now available in limited quantity from Aim Darts

Welcome to the Darts Life Thread, Dart_vader.

Yes, kimikewl is the "resident pro" in LYN. See this thread from the beginning, and you will find out he is the man with lots of darts knowledge - from throwing, darts accessories, places to train etc.

A personal review/opinion on Target Play Darts.

I got myself a 25g Match Play Darts from Target recently and have been throwing a couple of times and these are my findings.

The Match Play Range are made from 80% Tungsten designed with grip and feel in mind. IMHO, the grip is there even in my sweaty palm and fingers. I was informed that the True range range has been designed to accomodate all the popular holding and throwing techniques. Definatley worth it (even though slightly dearer than your normal Harrows or Unicorn dart set) as these darts do feel good in your hand with natural bumbs and curves. Finger placement is good.

In short, these darts felt balanced in my fingers as well as good grip on it.

If from BC, then the nearest place would be Los Locos, Ampang (kimikewl's regular place) or Amin Studio, Ampang (home of a Malaysian Darter).

From kimikewl's post #141 from this thread :

"The Ball Room, Level 5, Wisma MPL, Jln Raja Chulan
- Opp The Weld, next to AmBank
- 5 Winmau Ton Machine boards, entry level board with round wire. So, look out to those bounce darts as dart bounce could be as far as to the oche
- Wind up not only with darts, but also snooker and pool"
