QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 10 2008, 01:55 AM) Why should you use kit lens? agreed... let's see........ » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « sure, many people will tell you "kit lens" suck but don't let them get you down. Added on January 10, 2008, 1:56 amI'd like to add. people will eventually progress from their kit lens as there are many better lens out there, but that doesn't mean kit lens can't produce nice images. |

QUOTE(shockk @ Jan 18 2008, 02:48 PM) i think your uncle should already have hired a wedding photographer to do their albums etc, which usually include wedding dinner coverage. erm, I think nope... but for the video camera man, I guess that's with the package... photographer as I know from him, he said none lo... if he wants u to be the main wedding dinner photog, it is seriously not easy. follow the groom everywhere to take photo etc. even he don't officially pay you, maybe he'll give you a big angpau leh. i know that's gonna be "big project" for me... |

QUOTE(yikyeou @ Jan 20 2008, 12:36 AM) lol... if both, around RM3k... Tamron is cheaper actually, around 1.3 to 1.4k if you can nego kaokao lo... as for Sigma, due to it has the OS (Optical Stabilizer) Function, and it is AWESOME, of course the price also pricey lo... i have tried using 200mm, shutterspeed priority mode, 1/25 secs, with the OS on and OS off... you can see the different! QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 20 2008, 12:41 AM) yaloh... around that range... but it is worth it, right? since it is considered as "All-in-one lens"...QUOTE(pengster @ Jan 20 2008, 01:02 AM) ya... 1.4k is without the OS... both Tamron and Sigma 18-200mm is around that price range also, just Sigma has another choice which is with OS... |

QUOTE(vincent_audio @ Jan 20 2008, 02:44 PM) ya! come Penang! QUOTE(weileongz @ Jan 20 2008, 02:46 PM) erm, if you guys carpool here, and share everything, the total of your expenses can be expected lo... I would say if you have a proper plan with the budget everything, it is kinda cheap also la... should be less than RM500 per person lo... QUOTE(hornetEJ @ Jan 20 2008, 03:15 PM) Not a bad idea. We can meet up with members from Penang as well but this will need more planning la. Hehe, shooting the people at the beach will be fun lol... For Penangkia, no worries, I can arrange to meet you guys... QUOTE(valho @ Jan 20 2008, 03:35 PM) not bad also, but this one need to get plan early and everyone must confirm first if not troublesome ya, you are right... QUOTE(wjie20 @ Jan 20 2008, 03:50 PM) great!QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 20 2008, 10:10 PM) i put it this way bro, so what lenses you are using at the moment? 50mm f/1.8 and Sigma 18-200 OS? to me, it's really great to have one. can go from 18 to 200 in split seconds. the bokeh not so great la, compare at 200mm vs F4L and such. even at 50mm you can't go f2.8 or higher. however have to give and take la. IQ of course, sure cannot fight them L ranges but then it's not a sucky lens. during the recent bird park outing, it was a whole day with the 18-200 OS. Yup! all the way. It has replaced my kit lens and my 70-300 altogether. so as your advice, it is okay to get a Sigma 18-200 OS to replace the kit lens, right? What if compare to speedlite? I mean I am going to get either a speedlite 1st, or a 18-200 OS... which is more advisable to get 1st? |

QUOTE(derek87 @ Jan 21 2008, 01:58 AM) I'll give u an answer to that question too, coz i had that problem once before because of money problem. It depends on your shooting style. Lets say if you always go shooting under low light situations, get the flash first. if you always go shooting under the daylight, get the sigma first. Thanks bro, you open my mind... But then, flash is not only for low light situations. It can be used in a lot of situations... lets say, light source is coming from the right side, if u shoot without flash. There will be shadow on the left side of the object. So flash gun plays an important role here to get rid of the shadow on the left side IF u do not want the shadow to be there. To do this, one of the technique is to bounce the flash from the left, here is just an example of the use of flash gun. If i want to talk about flash photography, i think one whole page also not enough.. too much to learn in photography. So i think no matter what, flashgun is something that u may not regret of getting it too early. You will need it in the future. As for the sigma. Yes it can replace the 18~55mm. So no harm getting it. BUT there are a lot of choices of lenses out there. Dont just have one choice of lens in mind, go do a research. Compare different lens with the same range of prices. Maybe, find out what you need, the 18~55mm can also shoot nice photos. It all depends on your skills, i see a lot of people shooting with L lens, because of their skill, the pictures they took are like taken from normal lenses. So no matter what lens u are going to buy. Test kao kao first, and buy it if u really like it. In the world of photography, you will never stop spending. will properly do more research on what lens I really need before I consider and make a decision... |
